For those of you who have noise induced tinnitus, did it show up immediately after an event, or was it after years of loud music etc and showed up randomly one day? Did it get worse or better over time? submitted by /u/Ghoosemosey [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Day 7 of Onset...Losing Hope

Last Friday I laid down for a nap and noticed a high pitched ringing in my right ear. This wasn't super noticeable, but became louder as the day went on and progressed to both ears and now goes back and forth. It has continued for 7 days now. I was not sick (that I know of) but have had occasional gastric distress along with the tinnitus for the past week. I have been on an SSRI for the past four months, and spoke with my psychiatrist about the ringing and have begun tapering down to see if it has any effect. Since a few days ago, I've begun to try and throw the kitchen sink at it. I started ..read more

It will go quiet then normal then quiet and normal till my heart beat returns to normal. Does anyone know what this is or what it means. Happens when I'm w ..read more

Huge anxiety -> adapt -> spike -> repeat

Sorry for the bad English. So I'm in a period (I would say two months) where my tinnitus is spiking regularly. Despite the earplugs that I wear most of the time, despite doing exercises, eating well etc... I STILL get spikes. Yesterday I started to gain optimism. I looked at the famous video "how I cured my tinnitus" and I wanted to apply it so I was working on my projects and playing a little bit of Osu!. Suddenly my hissing tone (the worst one) is spiking. Waking up, I don't know if the spike is still here, I would say yes but maybe I'm focusing too much on it. Anyway the little amount of h ..read more

Is it a good sign when my reactive Tinnitus seems to get better after stretching?

I've been stretching like crazy since yesterday. I'm terrified I'll jinx myself, but it seems a lot better currently. Been listening to music all day and my reactive Tinnitus isn't terrible at all. But again I probably shouldn't say that because I feel cursed. What can this mean when it gets better with stretching? Is this a good sign? submitted by /u/starletharlot666 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hard to describe the sound in my right ear

So, for a few weeks now I have a rather strange tinnitus sound in my right ear. Went to the doctor and ENT and they couldn't find anything based on their observations. Hearing test was normal. I have a past of listening to loud music in the office for example. On first doctor visit there was a build-up of earwax only in my right ear, so that might have been the culprit. This all started after a very stressful two months were I catched Rona in the first month and got a one day flu the second month. No MRI done yet, so don't know if that really is a requirement. If so, do let me know. With this ..read more

People with hyperacusis or who are just really protective, what do you do for noise avoidance if anything?

I am right at the border of needing a hearing aid so I’m pretty hyper vigilant. personal rules so far are- Hearing protection pretty much everywhere. I don’t even tell people and avoid removing it if I’m around people that don’t know (don’t want to explain it, anyone who doesn’t know will think it’s weird) I just leave it in if I’m in public. Fill up tank in car fully either late at night or early morning when fewer cars are around (tons of redneck assholes with modified exhausts where I live). Planning on getting non metal/non glass plates and utensils, maybe lacquered wood (and installing r ..read more

Is my tinnitus more likely to be temporary or permanent?

Basically, two days ago I went to a club with some of my friends for a few hours, and I started noticing ringing in my ears when I tried to get to sleep that night. Over the next few days, the ringing has still been there, although it has gotten to the point where I only hear it at night or in a silent room, I don’t even hear it when I take a walk outside. I do have a slight pressure in my ears but there doesn’t seem to be any hearing loss at all. This is the first time this has happened to me and I don’t go to clubs that often so I’ve become pretty anxious. The most worrying thing for me is ..read more

I’m so tired

I always used to try to protect my hearing. Listening to music at low volumes, wearing ear protection, all the good stuff. It technically started when I was about 5 when ringing would appear and dissipate in a couple of seconds at random. When I was 14, however, it started and just never stopped. It’s been a few years since then and I don’t know if I can just “live my life and ignore it” for the rest of time. I can hear it slowly getting worse over time despite it having nothing to do with hearing loss or hearing damage. I’ll probably find better ways to cope through the sleep and general day ..read more
