This is actually my Seester’s recipe, who actually just started her own bakery, called Peace of Cake.
And I could tell you the back story on why I call her my Seester, but I don’t know if y’all have the time. Basically, she’s my bestest friend ever.
Anywho’s I’m gonna turn this over to her, because this is actually her post! Bye for now!

I find Southern food very comforting especially a Classic Southern Pecan Pie.
This recipe was given to me by a friend here in town. She added an ingredient that I had never had in a pecan pie before.
One year for Christmas a friend of ours baked a pecan pie for us as a gift.
There was no objection from me of a gift of homemade food.
Her recipe included cinnamon. I have eaten a lot of pecan pies over the years and never had one with cinnamon before.
It definitely added a great extra layer of flavor to the pie.
I love cinnamon so I am all for adding it to recipes.
Her recipe also makes ..read more

French Silk Pie is decadent and delicious. This one is a little different than most and even better.
On one vacation my husband and son fell in love with French Silk Pie. They ordered it several times. The waiters knew what they wanted for dessert each time.
Who could blame them? There is nothing to not like about it.
Except for maybe the fact that most recipes call for using raw eggs in the finished product.
I don’t feel comfortable serving that so I heated my eggs to a safe temperature and it worked out great.
By raising the temperature of the eggs to 160F degrees you kill any ..read more

Homemade Irish Cream is so easy to make and taste so good. The perfect addition to any drink. Worth the 5 minutes it takes.
A friend gave me her family recipe for Homemade Irish Cream and it was so enticing. I must admit though I altered it a little bit.
She said her family makes it every Christmas and I love traditions.
It is very versatile and can be added to many different drinks.
Here’s a straight shot with graham cracker crumbs and whipped cream.
Then there is always iced coffee.
Who could turn that down?
Make it festive!
Then there is, of course, hot chocolate. My husband and I shar ..read more

Italian Chocolate Pepper Cookies are known by many names. They have a couple of surprise ingredients that you will like.
The black pepper gives these cookies an extra boost of spice that pairs well with the cinnamon and cloves.
The whiskey really adds to the flavor also.
When making these you want to ice them soon after they come out of the oven.
Most people dip them in the icing and I tried that but I liked pouring it over the cookies instead.
Your icing should be thick but able to pour off of the spoon.
The cookie dough will be a little thick so that you can roll it into ba ..read more

Hot Cocoa Meringue Cookies – These crunchy, sweet, melt in your mouth meringue cookies are the perfect cookie to add to that holiday cookie plate.
I’ve always loved meringue cookies but I’m not going to lie when tell you, I haven’t had them in years.
They were something my mom occasionally would make when the recipe only called for the yolk and she didn’t want to waste the whites.
And about a year or 2 after she passedI tried to make them, but they didn’t come out right and I just hadn’t tried again since.
But since I was experimenting in the kitchen ..read more

Very easy to make and only a few basic ingredients. You can also mix it up a little bit by adding other liquors. Dealer’s choice.
In a food processor combine the wafer cookies, nuts, chocolate chips, cocoa powder and powdered sugar and blend until fine. Then add the corn syrup, Kahlua and vanilla extract.   ..read more

Grasshopper Pie Cookie Cups – These cookies are Grasshopper Pie in cookie form, chocolate cookie cups filled with mint frosting and topped with an Andes mint!
One of my all time favorite pies that my mom ever made is the Grasshopper Pie. And of course, with my luck, she hardly ever made it.
But when she did make it, oh my lord, it was absolutely amazing.
I know the name makes it sound weird though. Grasshopper Pie. Grasshopper Pie Cookie Cups. Anything with the name of a bug in it sounds weird and makes you think about what’s in it.

Swiss Roll Mousse Cake combines memories of my childhood with what I love as an adult.
Growing up I loved Swiss Rolls. They were always a welcome treat in my lunchbox.
Now as an adult I still love them but I love chocolate mousse more.
This easy dessert combines both of these items into one sinful dessert.
If you can melt chocolate and cut swiss rolls then you can make this with no problem.
I love desserts that seem harder to make than they are.
Cut your swiss rolls into slices. I got six pieces out of each roll.
Line an 8×8 inch glass dish with the sliced rolls. Yo ..read more
