We are continuing our Pandemic Project blog series with this Bungalow Bathroom Renovation in Nashville, Tennessee. A must see, so read on! This project is near and dear to me not only because of the charm and character of the home, but also because it was for a repeat client (and friend). I worked on this house when he first purchased it a few years ago, and then when he decided to renovate, he called me back in! Both projects I managed for the homeowner who doesn’t live in Nashville full-time, so this is his home away from home so to speak.
Built in 1940 and located in the historic o ..read more

....another show stopping Before and After!
This week we are going to give you an inside peek of a project we began during COVID and just recently photographed with Adrienne Figueroa Photography. You know how your list of “To Dos” got waylaid during COVID and many projects took a much longer timeline than anticipated? Well, this one was worth the wait. It is a beauty and this couple is loving their hotel chic master bathroom! From new finishes, a sleek transom window, a new tub, and more open shower, the cool back-lit LED mirrors, and high-contrast tile, this space is bold and beautiful and ..read more

Hi guys! It has been a minute since I have posted a blog, mostly because I’ve been very busy sending my boys into the real world. Here is a picture of both of their graduations this spring as we prepare for them to move this fall.

Ben graduated from Christ Presbyterian Academy
My heart is full of emotions. I am very proud of my young men and their accomplishments. These world changers are taking the next step in their journey…Ben is attending The University of Georgia this fall and Joseph moved to California to pursue his dream! I love the ..read more

Thoughts of bunnies, birds, and blooms! Feelings of brightness and hope after the long winter! Hope…looking ahead in anticipation…something I have been longing for and now we are seeing warmer temperatures and more sunshine! So many wonderful things to love about springtime! Well, there is lots of pollen too, but let’s not talk about that …
I love the freshness of spring, and the colors that accompany it. Don’t you?
Decorating with pastels and spring colors always feels fresh, but so can decorating

Buying a new house can be exciting and overwhelming and wonderful -- all at the same time! Many homeowners find that furnishing and decorating their new home has its challenges, and they find themselves standing in their new home asking themselves "Now what? How do I make this home mine? Where do I start?"
Recently I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Churchill Mortgage to create and present a webinar for their clients who have purchased a new home and face these exact challenges.
In “I Bought a House, Now What?” I offer advice for furnishing and decorating your new home as well as p ..read more

Create a cozy and inviting home all year long with designer tips and trends you can replicate!
COMFORT & JOY AREN’T JUST FOR CHRISTMAS
Over the years I have noticed a very interesting phenomenon: Every client, regardless of style preference, states that he/she wants his/her home to feel inviting and cozy at the end of the project, and they want to feel happy when they walk through the door. Those are the common descriptive words I hear over and over. Basically, everyone wants “comfort & joy!”
We all want to FEEL happy and welcomed as we enter our homes, and we want that for our famil ..read more

Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
Oh y'all, the saga continues. I know many of you were like me, hoping that COVID19 would be eradicated by now and we could get back to our "normal" lives. Unfortunately, the Delta variant and the Mu variant are not only heavily affecting life here, but COVID is hitting Southeast Asia particularly hard. The whole world is feeling the impact and disruption this causes. (Read related post from one of my vendor/suppliers here.)
This past June I wrote a blog post about "What It's Like Renovating (or Redecorating) During the Covid Era." With much chagrin, I am writin ..read more

Thinking of remodeling or improving your home? Join the club!
Home remodeling and renovation has boomed since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Everyone is jumping headfirst into making their homes the perfect oasis to be locked down in. The good news is we now all know how important our home environments really are, we appreciate them, and we want to make them functional as well as beautiful. Which is great; however, the surge in remodeling during the pandemic quickly brought shortages in supplies, like lumber, as well as shortages in reliable trade workers (ask your friendly Contractor ..read more

I had the great pleasure of working with Redfin on an article about using artwork in staging your home to sell. Most of you know the real estate market is crazy right now, and it is certainly a seller’s market, but incorporating tried and true staging methods, when selling your house, will still help you get the highest offer — hopefully one tens of thousands over asking price.
When asked by Redfin what my recommendations are for using artwork in home staging, I replied, “Use art to help you sell the home, remove art that sells you or your story, and instead hang only the a ..read more

WELLNESS, COMFORT, and FUNCTIONALITY — these are the “names of the game” for 2021. They are the overall wants and needs that will be driving the design trends when it comes to our homes these days as we continue living through the pandemic.
Here are the trends I see as being the big must-haves of 2021.
1. Home Office Spaces and Multi-Functional Furniture (well, duh)
Thanks to Ms. Corona staying LONG past her welcome (well, I guess she was never really welcome in the first place), we are still working from home, and kids are still attending school from home! And although I do ..read more
