In the ever-evolving world of interior design, some trends stand the test of time. They have a unique ability to capture the essence of style, making them perpetually relevant in the realm of home décor. The concept of “timeless design” is very appealing for many reasons. It creates balance by spanning a variety of design concepts and eras. It is lasting and economical; no need to repaint after two or three years or redecorate a space because the colors and décor have become dated. Timeless design is also functional; incorporating storage, choosing durable finishes, and adding elements to your ..read more

With little surprise, I'm sure, I have no bathroom renovation updates for you this week. We have wrapped up mitigation and the logistics that go along with it, and now have a rebuild estimation into the insurance adjuster. What a process! Thanks goodness everyone is kind and calm -- even as we grow inpatient to have our only full bathroom back to normal! Our latest hope we hold is for renovation to start the first week of the new year. Instead of an update, you get my new, favorite recipe! You've googled it before. You've read it a million times. ….on a journey absolutely nobody wants to go on! That’s right, the wax ring on our toilet failed, leaked for who knows how long, and now we have quite the bathroom renovation on our hands! Our family lives in a late 1940’s story and a half home in Saint Louis Park, so we will be renovating our only full bath (thank goodness for our half bath!) floor to ceiling. The good news is homeowner’s insurance will help cover part of the restoration, and it means we get to learn how to restore a small bathroom together! Here’s what we’re currently working with: We found THREE, yes, three layers of floo ..read more

Seasons change....and so does my décor!

When I was growing up, every season my mom would put away décor and bring out fresh, new items to match the next season. She had seasonally appropriate décor, holiday décor, and as the Catholics say, décor for "ordinary time." Naturally, as I grew older and had my own dorm room, then apartments, then home, I, too, invested in various sets of home goods to match the season. I'm curious, is this something you do in your home? Is this a tradition you grew up experiencing? Until recently, I just assumed that every home changed décor, you know, six to eight times a year! This fall, I was with a gro ..read more

Can you mix in rattan, wicker, or other vintage pieces, or will that look funny with modern lighting? Here are just a few tips and tricks around when to match (or not!) while designing.
