Eagles 7 Round Mock Draft – Version 1

Before free agency, the NFL Combine, pre-draft visits, etc, a mock draft at this point is really about what the Eagles should do…or at least, hope they do. Things will change quite a bit between now and April 28th and once we see what transpires over the next 2.5 months, we should have a better inclination as to what the Eagles will do in the draft. For now, it’s just fun to think about the many ways things could play out and what players could be future Eagles. I am going to base this initial mock on a few assumptions: They don’t trade any of their first round picks for a vet QB, Jason Kelce ..read more

Eagles 7 Round Mock Draft, Version 2

Much has changed since Version 1 of my Eagles mock draft. The Eagles now have pick No. 12 in Round 1, an extra 3rd rounder, a 4th rounder and 11 total picks! However, I still believe the Eagles should focus on fixing the defense primarily in this draft. As a unit, the defense has the most holes. Sure, we could argue that a WR is a top need but is it more of a need than CB? And despite the signing of Anthony Harris, there are certainly questions at the Safety position as well. Linebacker? When you’re hyping a player who was undrafted and played 3 years in Canada as your best LB, that tells you ..read more

Eagles 7 Round Mock Draft, Version 1

In my first version of an Eagles 2021 mock draft, I am going to focus on fixing the defense. This will be more of what I would like to see rather than what I think the Eagles will do, particularly in Round 1. The Eagles have holes all over the roster and one could make an argument for addressing virtually any position with their most premium of picks (Rounds 1-3, generally). That said, I’d like to see the defense round back into shape by injecting some youth and talent. Sometimes when teams hire offensive-minded head coaches who have a QB already in place, but have a weak defense, they tend to ..read more

The Carson Wentz Conundrum

Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images The Eagles are headed towards an offseason filled with huge drama surrounding the QB position. It wasn’t that long ago where we all thought we had “the guy” in Wentz and all we had to do was build around him for a bright future. Then, 2020 happened and suddenly the QB position is filled with incredible uncertainty tightly wrapped in a huge QB contract and salary cap implications. Is Wentz really as bad as he played this year? Is Jalen Hurts really the answer? Regardless of how the last 2 games play out, we will not know the answer to either of those question ..read more

Can the Eagles Fly During the Season of Covid?

Can the Eagles take advantage of their supposed advantage during the season of the Covid-19 pandemic? Brandon Graham made headlines back in May saying that the Eagles have an advantage in the NFC East due to the fact they are the only team returning with the same coaching staff (with a few new faces). The thinking is that the advantage comes from not having to implement an entirely new playbook and ways of doing things. The Cowgirls, Giants and Foreskins (that’s my vote for their new team name) all have new coaching staffs and will thus have to navigate all of the new rules and protocols due t ..read more

Will the Eagles Be Making a Move This Week?

Brian Baldinger set Eagles Twitter abuzz yesterday when he sent out the following tweet: .@Eagles #FlyEaglesFly I am hearing whispers about big news coming this week. #Birds could get a lot better in mid-July #BaldysBreakdowns — Brian Baldinger (@BaldyNFL) July 12, 2020 Now, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Baldy with any “inside info” and be the first to mention it. So, take this with a grain of salt. But, just for fun, what move would be considered “big news”? Sign Jadeveon Clowney? Wonder if there are any odds on it over at www.onlinecasinosnoop.com. Maybe they could give us a hint as to what ..read more

If No NFL Season, Eagles Should Trade Zach Ertz

Photo: YONG KIM/Inquirer As of right now, the NFL is planning to kickoff the 2020 season on time. But, as we’ve seen, plans can change at a moment’s notice in our current pandemic-riddled climate. With the other pro sports leagues scheduled to begin or resume at the end of July, much attention will be paid to how they all play out over the course of the first month or so before the NFL kicks off. Based on the current resurgence of the virus and many states now rolling back on their re-opening plans and the predicted resurgence of the virus in the fall combined with the normal flu season, a can ..read more

Jalen Hurts is an Insurance Policy, What’s the Problem?

Everyone from fans to beat writers to sports radio talk show hosts are killing Howie Roseman and the Eagles for taking Jalen Hurts in Round 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft. Hell, at first I was killing them too. When they announced the pick, my reaction was the same as most folks around here…I was dumbfounded, to say the least. Why on earth would they “waste” a valuable pick on a backup QB? Especially when Denzel Mims, A.J. Epenesa or even Logan Wilson were all right there for the taking and would have been far more logical and likely to return Year 1 dividends. Why would they use a Round 2 pick on a ..read more

Final Eagles Mock Draft: Go Big or Go Home

The 2020 NFL Draft is almost here! After much contemplation about what I hope the Eagles do, what they could do and what they will do, I’ve finally settled on the old adage Go Big or Go Home! After all this waiting while being stuck at home due to the current pandemic, I want something BIG to happen on Thursday night…in one way or another. If the Eagles move up, I want it to be WAY up. As in, to the 10-13 range. If they move down, I want it to be WAY down. As in, move down far enough that it nets at least one additional Day 2 pick this year along with a first rounder next year. I know the prud ..read more

Could a WR Be There at 21 That We Don’t Expect?

Could Ruggs actually be there at 21? (AP Photo/Vasha Hunt) An interesting nugget came out today from Daniel Jeremiah and Ian Rapoport that basically stated players commonly seen in mock drafts will go much higher or lower than everyone expects… I had a GM tell me, “The media is wronger about mock drafts this year than you guys have ever been.” Point being, players are going to be taken in places no one expects. https://t.co/oyDHSndqkl — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 17, 2020 Besides the GM that actually used the word “wronger”, I do wonder if this could be true (or righter?). Groupthink, a ..read more
