It is night two of the 2024 NFL Draft from Detroit.
On night one, the New York Jets added Olu Fashanu, the player they hope will be their left tackle of the future. A trade down also netted the Jets a fourth round pick and swapped a sixth round pick for a fifth round pick. Those selections are scheduled for tomorrow, however, when rounds four through seven are scheduled.
Tonight’s festivities will be the second and third rounds. The Jets lack a second round pick. This year’s ..read more

If the Jets want to move up, they have some ability to do so.
The New York Jets have a single pick on day two of the 2024 NFL Draft. However, through a series of moves, including a trade down in the first round the Jets own five picks in the final four rounds.
Rumors are already flying about the Jets potentially looking to move up on the second day. How far could they move up.
We will consult the classic Cowboys trade chart, which assigns a certain number of points to each pick. Is this an accurate measure of the true value of picks? Is it smart for teams t ..read more

It takes a couple of years to truly grade a Draft class. Grades given immediately after a pick are frequently wrong and the subject of ridicule years later.
That doesn’t stop analysts from churning out instant grades.
For now let’s say Draft grades are stupid...unless they praise the Jets.

The Jets have to make sure Aaron Rodgers is protected not only for 2024, but beyond. Yes, they signed Tyron Smith and acquired Morgan Moses, but both are older and injury-prone. Fashanu doesn’t have to play right away, but if he does he’s the ..read more

The first night of the 2024 NFL Draft is now in the books. The Jets have a new left tackle of the future, Olu Fashanu. The team traded down one slot from 10 to 11 to take the Penn State prospect. In the process, the Jets picked up an additional fourth round pick and executed what is essence was a pick swap, sending a sixth round pick to ..read more

What does the Jimmy Johnson trade value chart say about the Jets’ trade down?
A few weeks back I wrote about how the NFL actually values picks when they trade them and which of the draft value tables was most accurate with data suggesting the Jimmy Johnson table was best.
Then, serendipitously as far as that article was concerned, the New York Jets actually went ahead and traded picks for picks in Thursday’s NFL draft. I also saw some comments questioning whether or not they got adequate value for their pick when they traded it, so I figured it a good question ..read more

Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets
Good morning, Gang Green Nation. I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. Unfortunately due to my normal job, today’s FC will have been created prior to the start of the NFL draft - and for that I do apologize as I won’t be able to add much to the conversation in today’s monologue or in the links below it. Hopefully you enjoyed the first round of the draft - and hopefully the New York Jets have chosen a player that could create a nice career with the team going forward - or at least, getting a se ..read more

The Jets have a new left tackle!
The New York Jets traded the 10th overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft, along with pick No. 203, to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for picks No. 11, No. 129 and No. 157.
The Jets then used pick # 11 overall to select Penn State left tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu, a talented blind side pass protector who may need some work in the run game.
The Jets needed an offensive tackle badly, as they currently have Tyron Smith manning the left tackle spot. Smith is great, but the last time he missed less than three games in a season was ..read more

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY SportsPlease do not spoil picks before they are announced.
Tonight is the opening round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The New York Jets currently own the tenth overall selection. The Jets could end up picking tenth, but there is a lot of buzz about the team potentially trading up or trading down. We will see where the Jets end up, but we can expect them to pick at some point tonight.
The team is widely expected to pick a player on offense in the first round. The defense is currently the team’s dominant unit. There is a general lack of young talent on offense once you get past Garr ..read more
