Photo by Brandon Sloter/Image Of Sport/Getty Images Taking care of business There isn’t a whole lot of news coming out of the Minnesota Vikings’ team facilities at the moment, but there was a big moment today for one of the players that they drafted last month. The team has announced that cornerback Khyree Jackson has signed his rookie contract with the team. This means that five of the team’s seven draft choices are now, officially, under contract. Jackson was the Vikings’ fourth-round pick out of the University of Oregon in last month’s selection meeting. He’s had an interesting trip to get ..read more

Photo by Stephen Maturen/Getty Images There are some folks to choose from As we approach the start of June and the start of offseason “downtime” for the NFL, we’re going to look far and wide for things to talk about relating to our Minnesota Vikings, and hopefully this is one that will stir up a little bit of debate. Doug Farrar over at USA Today’s Touchdown Wire has put together a list of each NFL team’s most underrated player, and his pick for the Vikings is safety/cornerback/linebacker/hot dog vendor/whatever Josh Metellus. The key to being a standout defensive back in today’s NFL is versa ..read more

Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images Did the Minnesota Vikings seriously consider trading Justin Jefferson during the draft? The latest rumor is that the Vikings wanted to trade up with the Giants to get Malik Nabers and then were going to presumably trade Justin Jefferson. That would have been very interesting and wild! I would have loved it of course. The question is why though? I am going to have to guess it is/was all about the contract provided it is true. Paying JJ 35M per year or more (likely) is a lot to commit to a wide receiver. I think that any trade if ever made will not return as mu ..read more

Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty Images Because this one is a doozy We have, officially, reached the long, dark stretch of the NFL offseason where there likely isn’t going to be a whole lot happening between now and the start of Training Camp in late July. Therefore, when things connected to the Minnesota Vikings do surface, we will talk about them, regardless of just how non-sensical they might be. For example, there’s a new rumor about what Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and company were trying to do in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and man. . .this one’s a doozy. And not in a good way. David Reginek-USA TODAY Sports How the Vikings are following the Pack Sports Futility: It’s the Minnesota Way As a Minnesota sports fan, all I’ve known for my entire life is pain and suffering. A representative of the younger generation of Minnesota fandom, I have never, not once in my life, witnessed the Vikings, Timberwolves, Wild, or Twins play in a championship game or series. In fact, based on my own internet sleuthing and basic math, the four major men’s teams based in the Twin Cities have gone 51 straight playoff appearances without reaching the championship round, the longest such drou ..read more

Photo by Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images He could make an impact right away for the purple Last year, the Minnesota Vikings hit it big in undrafted free agency when they got linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. to come to Minnesota in the post-draft signing frenzy. Pace pushed his way into the lineup early on and wound up starting 11 games in his first NFL season. This year, the Vikings might have found themselves another player who was passed over on Draft weekend who could make a significant impact in the form of UCLA edge defender Gabriel Murphy. Murphy, despite having solid grades from most of the R ..read more

Should the Minnesota Vikings start JJ McCarthy in week one? As we wait for any news we are left to wonder/speculate about position battles and the best course of action the team should take. For example, should the team start JJ McCarthy? Sam Darnold is getting 10M this year which is a lot but it is not too much and probably will prove worth the investment. There are many articles out there that discuss starting or sitting a rookie QB with a lot of them having a ton of nerd stats to confuse. ... Apparently the Vikings need to worry about re-signing Jordan Addison already

David Reginek-USA TODAY Sports Seems a little premature We’ve heard everything we can handle, save for a resolution, about the contract extension for star wide receiver Justin Jefferson. But there’s at least one person who thinks that Jefferson’s deal could prevent the Minnesota Vikings from signing his primary running mate in the future. Randy Mueller of The Athletic has penned a piece about the wide receiver market in the National Football League, and seems to think that the Vikings signing Jefferson to a record-setting deal could prevent them from bringing back Jordan Addison in the future ..read more
