Can the Giants find some depth after losing Xavier McKinney?
The New York Giants could use secondary assets to bolster Jerome Henderson’s room. Many believe the Giants may invest in the cornerback position, which is very likely. However, we shouldn’t ignore the safety position, given the Giants’ depth and Shane Bowen’s past with three-safety sets.
Currently, both Dane Belton and Gervarrius Owens have a massive opportunity at their feet next to Jason Pinnock. There are players classified as safeties in this class who may be able to fill the apex defender role ..read more

Is LSU’s “Other” wide receiver an answer for the Giants?
The common consensus is that the New York Giants not only need to draft a wide receiver, but will do so highly. Most of the attention has been paid to the pass catchers at the very top of the draft, but what about the next tier?
The 2024 NFL Draft is incredibly deep at wide receiver, and there might not be much separation between the top three receivers and the next three or five.
LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr. has a rare blend of size and athleticism for the position and was highly productive in 2023. He had ..read more

Nick Falato takes a swing at a Giants-only mock draft
It’s that time of year! In next week’s 2024 NFL Draft the New York Giants will add several college athletes to their roster in an effort to strengthen their team for 2024 and beyond. The Giants are making a big splash in my lone mock draft - a trade-up with the New England Patriots to select North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.
I followed the Maye pick, emphasizing offensive talent before selecting three defenders to close the draft. The Patriots collected two second-round picks and next year’s third-round p ..read more

Mock drafters appear to be convinced the New York Giants will select a game-changing wide receiver with pick No. 6 in the 2024 NFL Draft.
With less than a week to go before Giants’ GM Joe Schoen has to make a real first-round selection for the Giants, 43 of 59 mock drafts (72.9%) in this week’s tracker have the Giants selecting a wide receiver.
Malik Nabers of LSU is the top choice, selected in 21 mock drafts (35.6%). Rome Odunze was selected 15 times (25.4%) and Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State was chosen seven times (11.9%).

Giants’ GM Joe Schoen at Thursday’s pre-draft press conference. | Ed Valentine
That and more takeaways from Schoen’s pre-draft press confernece
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen, in possession of the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, is playing a cloak-and-dagger game of trying not to let anyone see his true intentions.
“You try your best to keep your cards close,” Schoen said on Thursday during his pre-draft press conference. “I think at six it’s important to keep things close to the vest. There’s a competitive advantage to that, to people not knowing ..read more

The Giants are hoping for an answer soon, but aren’t pressing him
Tight end Darren Waller was the crowning jewel of the New York Giants 2023 offseason. They sent a third-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for 6-foot-6, 245-pound receiving tight end in the hopes of accelerating the team’s rebuild.
It didn’t work out that way, and it came out last month that Waller is mulling retirement.
Giants GM Joe Schoen spoke to the media on Thursday ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, and he was (unsurprisingly) asked about Waller’s status with the team.
“We’re giving Darren som ..read more

Can Gray become an every-down linebacker in the NFL?
The off-ball linebacker class in the 2024 NFL Draft isn’t considered to be particularly strong. It isn’t weak, but there might not be any linebackers chosen in the first round. But that doesn’t mean that there won’t be any good linebackers selected.
North Carolina linebacker Cedric Gray was active, productive, and disruptive for the Tar Heels’ defense, and will likely be a later Day 2 pick. What really matters is what he does once he gets to an NFL team. Will Gray be a rotational piece or could he be a Day 2 gem l ..read more

Could the Giants move up to pick No. 3?
The New England Patriots, who have the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, are “open for business” at that spot, according to Eliot Wolf, who is running the Patriots’ draft in lieu of the team having an actual general manager.
That could get the attention of New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen.
The Giants have paid a great deal of attention to all of the top quarterbacks in this draft class. Most analysts believe that if the Giants, who have pick No. 6, take a quarterback with their first overa ..read more

He’s more productive than many Giants fans give him credit for
Jordan Ranaan reported Wednesday that New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton has declined to attend voluntary workouts this week because he is seeking a new contract. In the Big Blue View comments section and on the app formerly known as Twitter there was considerable negative reaction to this. Some fans claimed he was not honoring his contract. Others said that it was time for the Giants to move on from Slayton. The responses to Raanan’s announcement of this tell the story:
