I just had my first dorsiflexion sprain. its basically a high ankle sprain were my heel bent very deep since i sent a jump way to far and landed flat on some roots. With my type of riding i always send stuff as far as possible. I have had 3 weeks off the bike for it to heal and I'm not sure if i should start riding again with an ankle support to prevent this injury again. What ankle support do you guys recommend for this type of injury. Im looking into the space brace 2.0 but it looks like its for normal sprains. Even with good foot position i get pain on the bike from minor tricks weeks afte ..read more

Do I replace my high spec 650B DH rig with a 29" High Pivot DH Bike?

Ladies and gentlemen of the MTB community on reddit. I humbly ask your advice. I currently live in Eastern Scotland where uplift-accessed DH tracks aren't nearby and the tracks that are around are all trail bike grade. My main rig is a high pivot 29er trail bike and I love the absolute shit out of it. However, I am a (not bad but also not great) DH rider at heart and I want to get back into riding that kind of stuff. I currently have a 2015 650b Scott Gambler with Fox Factory 40's and Factory RC4 which I bought from a friend for a ridiculously cheap price. Basically, I am so in love with my t ..read more

Can I put a 120mm fork on a 100mm XC bike?

I have been riding a silverback stride deluxe as my first mtb. It has surprisingly been able to handle bike parks and many black tech trails at a relatively fast pace. However the forks are becoming more fucked over time so I thought it might be a good idea to upgrade the fork to something more suitable. Would I be able to put a 120mm travel fork on it without stuffing up the geometry? I was thinking of some rockshox 35s which I will link. Am also wondering if just any fork with the right headset will fit on it? Any advice would be great, even other recommendations for forks around this price ..read more

Whats the current situation with checked luggage for Air New Zealand flights? Ive heard horror stories of bikes taking like weeks to arrive. Its a 3 leg flight from where Im at to Queenstown. Im only gonna be there for a 2 weeks and I really don't want to be riding on a clapped out rental. Is it worth it instead to buy a bike there and the attempt to sell it before I leave? submitted by /u/mtnbiketech [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Choices!?

Hi all, so I’ve not ridden a bike in probably 15 years at this point. But like a lot of people a sedentary work life has caught up with me. And I’ve got the itch to start riding again. I’m not in a position currently to spend a ton. Ideally, I would adhere to sub $500. I’m in WNC, and live on a large track of mountain, so I would like to get my legs back and do light to moderate trail riding. I’ve found locally on CL, a Giant Boulder SE, $125, and a Haro double peak for $200. And I know Seth @ Berm Peak gave the Walmart Ozark relatively glowing reviews. But I wanted opinion of others. Clipless Pedals on a MTB?

I bought a used Specialized hardtail many years ago, and it came with Shimano SPD clipless pedals. It was helpful for riding (bombing) up hilly, paved trails, which were the best trails I had around me at the time. So I never really questioned them. Now that I mostly ride a mix of paved, gravel, dirt, and sand surfaces on mostly flat land, the advantage of clipless pedals seems to be a lot less noticeable. There are no trails with jumps around me. And I have never had any issues ‘unclipping’ when I’ve needed to. This is also my all purpose bike. Curious to see what you all feel about having c ..read more

so I was checking out the specialized 2FO DH flat MTB shoes and took the size test thing made by Retül and it recommended the size 40.5Euro/7.75US, when Im usually a 8.5-9 size. Is this accurate? or should I just go with my usual size? 24.5 CM long and 10.5 CM wide, Medium arch, Same for both. submitted by /u/Neither_Comedian5681 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
