I’m Ivy and I really do wake up for makeup. I studied art in college and was a graphic designer in the ad agency world until my makeup dreams intervened. I am a freelance makeup artist and previously served as Operations Consultant and Senior Education Consultant & Certified Color Artist for Sephora. I do makeup and talk about it on the internet.

Launched by Katherine Power in 2019, Versed is a comprehensive line of skincare essentials, both affordable and accessible. Versed skincare formulas are simple but effective and are often what I’m going to recommend if you text me asking what skincare products you can grab at Target. I feel good recommending Versed knowing that their products ..read more

When I look in the mirror, I do not see my age. I feel young on the inside, and hopefully, it translates to the outside. When I smile, I have lines around my eyes. When I furrow my brow, I have the eleven lines. If I raise my eyebrows, a rainbow of wrinkles emerge above ..read more

The Ethereal Eyes Moonlight palette was sent by the brand for review purposes. Post contains affiliate links. Having used the previous Ethereal Eyes palette, a trusty wedding workhorse in my freelance kit, I was familiar with the formulas. It’s predecessor was a different color palette, leaning more pink and warm, so very versatile and wearable ..read more

To the darling, young people of TikTok, soaking up sun rays sans sunscreen, prioritizing laying out during the high UV index hours: You’re all beautiful, and you should definitely open a high yield savings account right now for future laser treatments.
Before I throw too much shade, (sunscreen pun?), you should know, I’m not a perfect sunscreen user. I consistently apply it to my face, but I could be better about reapplying and I’m definitely not applying it to my bod daily. I vow to get better about that. Whether it’s just to “take the edge off” or a realistic from-the-beach bronze, you’re likely seeking the most natural self tanner. I’ll guide you to both in this post, having found the most natural sunless tanning line to date. I’ve used so, so many. I tried the expensive, the budget-friendly, the mousses, the waters, the lotions. While, I’ve come close to finding perfection, it’s never been quite there, until now.
Beyond giving such perfectly, natural results in formulas that are seamless to use, these sunless products are from a woman-owned, indie brand. That brand is Glow On Girl, founded b ..read more

Thank you to CurrentBody for sponsoring this self love focused blog post.
There is no greater, nor more important love, than self love. It is the beginning and the end of all other love. There are numerous ways to care for yourself and I want to share some of my favorites from CurrentBody with you.
As I’ve grown, my self care routine and habits have grown with me. My mind and body’s needs may differ from yours but we can all benefit from simply being nicer to ourselves. That starts with the way we speak to ourselves, the way we speak about ourselves. Talk to yourself like you would a child, or ..read more

This updated skincare favorites comes to you on the heels of some breaking news. An esthetician recently told me that I do not actually have dry skin, but instead, oily and dehydrated?! I’ve lived my whole life treating my skin as super dry.
This recent revelation has caused me to rethink my entire routine, thus shifting some of the products in my rotation. I’m happy to report that my skin has benefited from products that cater to a more dehydrated vs. dry type and I’m here to spread the good word.
