Chris King Gen 4 Hubs Get Universal Parts, Swapping Driveshells Now Easier & Cheaper

Chris King has always been about making the most precise components – it’s right there in the name. Their hubs are works of art, with their patented RingDrive system buzzing away as you coast. But that RingDrive precision came at a cost, namely a more complex service procedure and costly driveshell replacements. Chris King had already phased out their needle-bearing design of the RingDrive system in 2019. Moving from that to a twin-bearing system reduced drag by more than 20% and made for a system that was lighter and easier to manufacture. The issue was that adapting the current hub design ..read more

Landing a backflip is a dream of many young mountain bikers. Very few of those riders go on to landing a double backflip. But a quadruple? That’s just nuts. Or it’s just the natural progression of the sport when you’re as dedicated as Christian Arehart. Following Jed Mildon’s quad flip on a BMX bike in 2015, Christian just became the first person to land a quad flip on a mountain bike. The jump went down at Mid America Outdoors after Christian drove his own ramp cross-country to take on the challenge. After dialing it in on the airbags, Christian landed the quad flip to the massive resi landi ..read more

Wheelie poppers rejoice! The new Sunset Bar handlebar from the Minnesota bike deviants, Surly Bikes, is both wide (820mm) and tall (110mm rise). This new bar resembles a huge, wide BMX bar that would be perfect for cyclists who prefer an upright riding position. (Photos/Surly Bikes) The New Sunset Bars are a play on the earlier Sunrise Bars that Surly released back in 2019. But, when Surly set out to make this bar with more back sweep, upsweep, and rise. Being upright and durable, this bar would be great for that old 90s MTB with low stack height or a low steer tube that you’ve been eyeballi ..read more

Formula expands their air suspension to the back of your mountain bike with the all-new Nebbia hybrid air shock. It’s the first air shock for the Italian suspension makers, aimed at riders looking for simple setup – no picking coil spring weights – but not wanting to sacrifice on tuning or durability. The Formula Nebbia tuneable mountain bike hybrid air shock (Photos/Formula) Describing it as “reliable, simple to set up, and easy to adapt“, the new Formula Nebbia is all about performance that lets you focus on the ride. But, it’s a bit more complex that your standard air shock – taking a lot ..read more

This new BikeYoke Revive 3 is a third generation of the dropper seatpost that I measure all other droppers against. The changes are small and incremental. But the lower stack upgrade means that you might be able to fit a bit more dropper travel in your bike, and you can even upgrade your existing Revive. Plus, there’s a super limited edition in silver if you want to trick out your mountain bike, while supplies last… BikeYoke Revive 3.0 mountain bike dropper seatpost (Photos/Cory Benson) While other posts promise to be the lightest, the simplest, or the cheapest, the BikeYoke Revive simply pro ..read more

Kogel Angles to be your T-Type OSPW Upgrade

Kogel’s Kolossos derailleur hanger upgrades have made the leap to T-Type, offering a replacement cage with their oversized pulleys spinning on ceramic bearings. They had already introduced replacement pulleys that fit into the stock SRAM T-Type rear derailleurs, but now the T-ransformation is complete… There are two main things you should know about the new Kogel Kolossos T-Type. First, the cage is angled to mimic SRAM’s “Inline Cage” design that points the lower pulley toward the chainring to reduce noise and friction. Second, it does not include the clutch mechanism like the stock replacem ..read more

PNW Purples Out w/ Polished Prototypes (and a New Bar)

At the show, they thought it would be fun to have a purple version of their Loam dropper post and see what people thought. Turns out, they liked it a lot, so they’re going to do… something. They’ll start with an anodized silver that’ll be a little shiny (not high polished), and the stanchion will be a slightly different silver. They’re limited to what colors they can do a hard anodizing in, which is necessary on the sliding part (aka “the stanchion”), but they’ll be close in color. As for the purple, that could come later this year as a very limited edition. Not shown, a new Range Dropper lin ..read more

New Stan’s Exocore Uses Solid Brass Core for Clog-Free, High Flow Tubeless Valve

If you’re just catching up, there were a lot of new valve designs this year at Sea Otter… including some we can’t even talk about yet. At Stan’s, the well-known tubeless brand has completely rethought the presta valve with an all-new design that promises to offer high flow without any clogging. The solid brass core goes between the lower and upper valve stem pieces. All of the seals are in the upper piece, which makes more room for airflow around the core below. To get there, the Exocore uses a multi-piece design with a solid brass core in the middle. Since all of the sealing surfaces are ext ..read more

Light trail bikes are getting more burly, so Öhlins has updated its lightweight RXF34 m.2 fork with a new longer 140mm travel option. And since enduro, gravity, and downhill riders are always looking to get more out of their suspension, Öhlins has more new upgrade options for them too. New coil spring cartridge kits make the switch from air to coil suspension easier than ever for riders with RXF38 m.2 enduro or DH38 m.1 downhill forks.
