ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 16 – 23 MAR 2024 This week was another all-around beauty on Alphonse and St Francois. The neap tides slowly made way for the springs, bringing greater fluctuations of water on the flats. The weather was fairly stable, which made most days very pleasant for flats fishing. Every season is full of great stories, and this week was no different. Angler Jorg Weber stayed over on Alphonse for a few days before a week of fishing on Farquhar and was eager to dive straight into fishing. One particular morning, Jorg set off for the surf at around 6:30 am in the mornin ..read more

COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 21 – 27 MAR 2024 This past week on Cosmoledo was set over a full moon spring tide. Over the week, water movement slowly increased day by day. The weather conditions at the beginning of the week started off with fairly high winds and some rainfall. Nevertheless, this did not hinder the anglers, and a good number of fish were brought in. The latter part of the week was absolutely beautiful in regard to weather, sunlight, and wind conditions. This week, many firsts were achieved. David Lamar, Mark, Andrew ..read more

ASTOVE ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 11 – 18 MAR 2024 We had south-easterly winds for most of the week, with a few scattered rain squalls. We welcomed spring tides, which made for great surf walks and even better fish sightings. To start off the trip, Chris and Josh got stuck into an abundance of surf bonefish, Chis landing 12 whilst Josh racked up six. The next day, Josh cast at a hungry triggerfish, which charged over and didn’t hesitate. He landed the moustache trigger within a matter of seconds; no time for messing around with him. He then found himself with quite the tally of ..read more

COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 14 – 21 MAR 2024 This week on Cosmoledo saw the second neap tides of the month of March. Water movement at the beginning of the week was still strong from the previous spring tide but, slowly tapered off into full neap tides towards the end of the week. The weather at the beginning of the week was tough, with a couple of overcast days, cloud cover, and rain. This, however, cleaned up nicely in the latter half of the week, resulting in bright skies and warmer water. Kent Lindvall caught his first Giant trevally this week and caught an impressive 101 cm GT th ..read more

FARQUHAR ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 13 – 20 MAR 2024 Nine anglers hit the water this week during the Farquhar season, brimming with anticipation of what surprises the Atoll had in store. The first day of the week set a high bar for the days to come, with some special catches coming to hand. Emily was quick to tick off her first bumphead parrotfish on the shallow turtle grass flats. It was a beautiful specimen around the 90 cm mark. She then rounded off her incredible day with an even rarer catch, a golden trevally — the first of the season and a fish celebrated among the guides as one of ..read more

ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 02 – 09 MAR 2024 This week of the season was slightly tougher than expected. The weather was absolutely stunning, with a number of “glass off” days featuring no wind and bright sunshine. As much as the weather was picturesque, the absence of any wind can sometimes make the fish a bit skittish on the flats. Nonetheless, our guests managed to catch a number of awesome fish and had a great time fishing our flats. Bonefish are, without a doubt, the backbone of our fishery, and they sometimes do not get the appreciation they deserve. On almost any tide and in an ..read more

COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 07 – 14 MAR 2024 This past week on Cosmoledo coincided with the March new moon spring tides. The tidal movement was extreme, making many boats spend multiple days in the surf. Great light conditions enhanced the fishing. The time spent in the surf showcased some phenomenal triggerfish catches and returns, with many aggressive triggers seen and landed. Chris Black, Nicholas Lee, Sarah and David Fudurich, Greg and Chris Richter, and Scott Elsas all landed their very first Giant trevally on the fly this week, adding another incredible fish species to ..read more

ASTOVE ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 04 – 11 MAR 2024 A South – easterly backwind, moving towards spring tides with a few clouds around, gave us a great week of fishing here on Astove. On day one, David started off with a fish of a lifetime. He ventured out on the boat, found a log, and spotted a 114 cm GT sitting underneath. He cast, and it swallowed up the fly. David had a mighty fight! Both he and Simon ended the day in the lagoon, catching 20+ bonefish each. On the second day, we set off to the mouth. After losing two fish each, Simon tightened up the drag and landed a 65 cm fish along w ..read more

FARQUHAR ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 06 – 13 MAR 2024 This week, we welcomed 10 anglers from Russia, France, and America to test their fishing skills on the flats of Farquhar. The group was greeted on the first day with spectacular weather, which stayed for most of the week. The main aim for our guests was to land the famous Farquhar GTs and the large bonefish the atoll is known for. Kent opened the GT account for the group, landing GT number one on the opening day of fishing. Several bonefish and other reef species were also caught on the first day. Kent, being no stranger to GTs, continued hi ..read more
