ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 27 APR – 04 MAY 2024 We had another beautiful week here on Alphonse. Our anglers enjoyed calm days that provided excellent fly fishing conditions. At this time of year, with the South-East wind prevailing, even during calm periods, you’ll find few guides who aren’t eager to get out there. The South-Easter brings cooler, oxygen-rich water, ideal for targeting larger GTs and witnessing the spectacular influx of Indo-Pacific Permit. Targeting big GTs is a dream for many of our guests, and this season has already seen plenty of impressive catches. Guides wasted ..read more

ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 20 – 27 APRIL 2024 This week on Alphonse the size and quality of the fish were real highlights. Our guests had a great time during their stay and experienced some unforgettable moments on the water. The undisputed angler of the week is Julian Miniberg. He kicked off his week aiming for his first GT, which he landed on day one. On the second day on the flats, he achieved a flats slam with a moustache triggerfish, GT, and a bonefish. Julian’s streak continued with a cracker milkfish and two impressive moustache triggers, an 85 cm GT, and another bonefish, ear ..read more

ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 13 – 20 APRIL 2024 We had another spectacular week showcasing a variety of species here on Alphonse and St. Francois! Returning guest Tom Leslie has not had an easy ride when it comes to triggerfish. On a previous trip, he hooked his fair share but wasn’t able to land any. Everything changed this trip. On the day he arrived, he only had the afternoon to work with but grabbed the opportunity with both hands, bringing to net a massive 52 cm moustache trigger, which ate the fly at least three times before being hooked, fought, and caught. An epic start to the ..read more

FARQUHAR ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 17 – 24  APRIL 2024 The final week of the Farquhar fishing season saw nine lucky anglers take to the flats in search of diversity and quality, which is in no short supply on Farquhar. To start off, Adrian managed to open his bonefish account with his first ever. On the same boat, Tom landed a beautiful GT to kick off his week. Guide Chad, with his American guests Hardwick and Lindsay, set out to find GTs. After a slow start to the day, it became apparent at the second stop that the GTs were around and hungry. Immediately upon arriving, a GT wa ..read more

COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 11 – 18 APRIL 2024 This week on Cosmoledo Atoll was predominantly based on neap tides. However, surf walks were made possible at the beginning of the week due to big new moon tides the week before, which eventually became full neaps at the end of the week. Matt Frey, Erin Hennigan, Brian Leuchtenburg, Lucas Brunette, and Zulkifli Baharudin all landed their first Giant trevally this week! Congratulations gentlemen. Brett Tighe and Erin had one of the best days fishing they have ever had on the backside of Wizard Island. Over the full neap tide ..read more

ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 06 – 13  APRIL 2024 This week on Alphonse showed us just how temperamental the flats of the Seychelles can be. The fish were around in great numbers once again, but a couple of days of the week we could not get a bite. Despite a few days of fish having the dreaded ‘lockjaw’, the days on which they did bite made up for it well and truly. The biggest story of the week was that we had an incredible Super Slam caught by returning guest Reade Griffith. His day got off to a flying start when his guide, Reece, spotted some feeding milkfish in the Milky Way ch ..read more

FARQUHAR ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT |  10 – 17 APRIL 2024 Ten anglers from America, the UK, and Russia landed in the paradise of Farquhar and took to the pristine waters in search of fishing greatness. To start things off, Gordon managed to land himself his first GT of the trip, being no stranger to the GTs or Farquhar. The following day was a day to remember for a few lucky anglers. Valerii joined forces with Evan, and first thing in the morning found a large GT and a smaller one patrolling the white sandy high spot near the surf. Evan positioned the boat perfectly to allow Valerii to make ..read more

COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT |  04 – 11 APRIL 2024 This week on Cosmoledo was based on the New Moon spring tides of April. With daily intense water movement over the entire Atoll, target species were found in good numbers throughout the week. The weather was not in our favour as we encountered an unusual amount of rain. Nevertheless, our anglers stayed motivated and positive. Surf walks were made available this week, and a couple of boats searched the surf line for Giant Trevally and various other fish species. Some of our guests managed to land a couple of GTs in the surf, which is ..read more

ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT |  30 MAR – 06 APR Week 29 on Alphonse was an absolute beauty all around. Both the weather and the fish did not disappoint, with the story of the week being numerous GTs of impressive stature roaming the flats and taking flies. Angler Ronnie Hoffman had his intentions set on catching GTs, and obviously, the bigger the better. His week started off slow, with some tough tries that did not quite go his way. At the end of the week, his luck changed. While poling down the Milky Way with veteran guide Matt Defilipi, they spotted the greatest sight one can poss ..read more

PLATTE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 14 – 21 APRIL 2024 The exquisite Waldorf Astoria on Platte Island recently opened its doors, catering to scuba divers, snorkelers, beach lovers, and keen fly fishers. The guides have been chomping at the bit to get on the water and see what the fishery has to offer after rumours of big GTs, an abundance of permit, and some hefty triggerfish. The time finally arrived for anglers eager to get onto the flats. Both guides went their separate ways, one after bonefish with Mr. Park and the other after anything that would eat the fly. A lovely GT ..read more
