FARQUHAR ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 06 – 13 MAR 2024 This week, we welcomed 10 anglers from Russia, France, and America to test their fishing skills on the flats of Farquhar. The group was greeted on the first day with spectacular weather, which stayed for most of the week. The main aim for our guests was to land the famous Farquhar GTs and the large bonefish the atoll is known for. Kent opened the GT account for the group, landing GT number one on the opening day of fishing. Several bonefish and other reef species were also caught on the first day. Kent, being no stranger to GTs, continued hi ..read more

COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 29 FEB – 07 MAR 2024 Our last week of the season on Cosmoledo was mainly based on neap tides. The beginning and the end of the week had more water movement compared to the middle of the week. This left us with lots of areas to fish all day. The weather over the first day was excellent: full sun, no clouds, and no wind making perfect conditions for flats fishing. The guests were ecstatic as most of them caught their first GTs on the very first day! The rest of the week was filled with a variety of weather conditions, providing the guests with the o ..read more

ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 24 FEB – 02 MAR 2024 To no surprise, Alphonse Island continued to provide prime catches this week. Even with some strong winds and rainfall, our anglers had a memorable week with lots of excellent catches. The spring tides provided the opportunity to target all of the species that inhabit the Seychelles Outer Islands. With an early morning high and a dropping tide, our guests generally opted to start the day looking for GTs. As per the norm, they were out and about in good numbers. Angler Alistair Crawford has been to Alphonse Island almost yea ..read more

COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 22 – 29 FEB 2024 The week started off leading up to full moon spring tides for the end of February. We had great water movement from the start of the week right through to the last day. If they favoured a surf walk, the guests had the opportunity to do it daily. Helmut Zaderer had a phenomenal week of fishing. He put in many hours searching for a big fish and managed to catch two fine specimens that achieved the meter mark: a Giant trevally of 121 cm and a second of 125 cm. He also managed a few more GTs over his time here, as well as a lovely moustache. Co ..read more

FARQUHAR ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 28 FEB – 06 MAR 2024 This week on Astove was characterized by spring tides, good weather, huge smiles on our guests’ faces, and the very first GTs for many. Day one started off a bit slow, yet everyone got stuck into bonefish. Dan and Harold managed to land a total of 12 bonefish, and Jeff and Jim got 10 between them. Harold would not let the day go on without hunting GTs, and towards the end of the day, he landed his first GT measuring 65 cm. The following day, Jeff caught the one and only GT while everyone managed Bluefin trevally and a few bonefish ..read more

FARQUHAR ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 28 FEB – 06 MAR 2024 Four eager anglers from America and Russia arrived on Farquhar this week with high hopes. Their eyes were keenly set on GTs. The first few days of fishing proved difficult as conditions were almost too good. Low wind conditions made for difficult GT fly fishing despite the fact that we had some good sightings. However, bonefish and other reef-dwelling species were caught in between the attempts made at GTs. On day three, Roman decided to try his hand at bumphead parrotfish that Farquhar is famous for, and he managed to tick th ..read more

ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 17 – 24 FEB 2024 This week of the season turned out to be yet another awesome week on Alphonse and St Francois. The Atolls showcased its continuous consistency in providing some phenomenal catches. Whilst a bit of wind and a few small squalls passed our island paradise, mostly sunny and pleasant conditions filled our week. Anyone who has fished Alphonse and St Francois knows the sheer number of bonefish which frequent the flats. Bonefish are one of the purest fly rod species targets, usually caught in ankle-deep, clear water. They rip huge amounts of l ..read more

PROVIDENCE ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 18 – 25 FEB 2024 This week on Providence, big geets, bumpies, triggers, and sailfish were all on the cards. Daniel Factor hosted a group with Brent Poultney, Terence and Mitch Sharman, Francois, and Alex Du Preez. The trip began with sailfish action as Terry was soon hooked into a fish. Unfortunately, it spat the hook out after a lengthy fight. Alex was up next when teasers were rattled by sailfish. This time, it all went according to plan, and Alex had a fairy tale start to the week as he managed to land a very impressive sailfish, which, after a quick ph ..read more

ALPHONSE ISLAND FLY FISHING REPORT | 10 – 17 FEB 2024 This week was yet another epic week of fishing and weather on Alphonse and St. Francois. Sunny days, light winds, and spring tides ensured that many fish were out and about on the atolls, and the conditions made sight fishing as easy as it could possibly be. The major highlight of the week was the sheer number of Giant trevallies present on the flats. The gangsters of the flats loved the spring tide pushing, and in the early mornings, when the water was still high, these coveted species could be found almost everywhere on St. Francois. ATOVE ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 12 – 19 FEB 2024 The weather held up nicely this week, and the tides played their part. Astove had a mix of guests sharing stories and catches every evening over dinner. We welcomed Laurent, no stranger to the Seychelles but visiting Astove for the first time. He started on a strong foot from day one, catching himself a 70 cm GT. Giani got his first GT in the lagoon measuring 60 cm, along with 12 bonefish. Andre got stuck into Bluefin trevally on Rays, hoping to find a GT. Day two saw Andre land his first-ever GT in the lagoon on a ray near the mouth along with ..read more
