After the announcement of Vistara and Air India’s merging, it seems the carrier has already started to step up its passenger experience offering. Partnering with the international travel and lifestyle brand TUMI, Air India seems to be putting the right foot forward in upgrading what has been a very tired, and unloved product for some time. Could this be the glimmer of a new wave of hard products, food and beverage and service approach too?   “Designed for life on the move, TUMI is the leading international business, accessory, and travel lifestyle brand,” states Air India’s press release ..read more

TheDesignAir was lucky enough to be invited to trial Condor’s brand new A330-900Neo ‘2-litre’ aircraft just a few months after it launched the shiny new plane to the world. Jumping at the chance, we wanted to explore in-depth the reasons why the airline won both best new livery and most improved airline brand 2022 last year. Why 2-litre? Because the A330-900Neo uses less than 2 litres of jet fuel per passenger per 100kms flown making it one of the most economic and environmentally less-damaging aircraft in the skies. Check out our full report in video format or click here to watch it on youtub ..read more

Emirates refreshes livery design with updated 3D paint effect

The update to a livery for an airline with a large fleet is a costly, and arduous undertaking. A dramatic shift in livery and brand can create inconsistency for years while a fleet is repainted, and too subtle a shift can be seen as folly. But sometimes the arrival of a new sub-fleet can bring with it an opportunity to refresh the brand look of a carrier. With 787s, 777X’s and A350s entering Emirates‘ fleet soon, it is the opportune time to refresh the carrier’s brand image. Dubbed a ‘refresh’ rather than a ‘redesign’, Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline said: “Aircraft livery is t ..read more

AirJapan revealed its Landor livery and brand last year, but not much was known about the brand beyond the exterior. Last week, however the airline revealed the carrier’s interior image and uniforms that will go some way in building the inflight passenger experience. AirJapan will be the new medium-haul international brand, as part of ANA, as such the airline that’s somewhere between a low-cost and full service carrier (think JetStar) will offer nothing but economy seating onboard its fleet of Dreamliner aircraft. AirJapan intends to begin operating flights in February 2024 and expand its net ..read more

Lufthansa’s new Allegris product provides a wealth of seating options, but does it deliver a myriad of complications for passenger assignments?

Lufthansa peeled back the curtain today on its new Allegris product, with a wide range of products now on offer across its future wide-bodied fleet. We’ve already covered most of this story here including the myriad of Business Class seating options that Allegris will be offering. However, perhaps the scene stealer today is Lufthansa’s First Class ‘halo’ product, the airline’s first centre-pair suite. Lufthansa’s First Class “Suite Plus” offers a separate double cabin with ceiling-high walls and an entirely closable door, large table and two wide seats that can be combined into a comfortable ..read more

How Condor’s new ‘Prime Seats’ have beaten Lufthansa to the punch, and it’s an unexpected Business Class elevation…

Now, Condor’s A330neo nautically business class might not be recent news, but social is finally buzzing around the airline’s decision to up-guage its front row of business class to a ‘Business Plus’ proposition. Dubbed ‘Prime Seats’, Condor’s front row of four seats are in effect ‘mini suites’ with a few hidden surprises that the airline has cleverly used to market the product. A little while ago, Lufthansa mentioned its new Allegris proposition would feature multiple business class seats (too many in our opinion) with throne seats, aisle seats and it’s own version of a front-row business cla ..read more

With 10 million views in just two days on Youtube it’s clear that Singapore Airlines knows how to make a good advertising campaign. Titled ‘Welcome to World Class’, the campaign “reflects the Airline’s commitment to deliver an exceptional customer experience across the end-to-end travel journey,” as stated by the press release. However scratch the surface and there’s a deeper shift at play from this synonymous ‘Singapore Girl’-led campaign. In this new 90-second campaign video there’s humanity at play. The advert highlights a singular crew’s varied and personal experiences with people and cul ..read more
