Today, I stepped back into a place I haven’t visited in a long time……One year to the day to be exact since I last ventured anywhere close. It wasn’t intentional or deliberate to visit on this day, it just kind of happened. It felt like taking a trip down memory lane. I was curious and I suppose I wanted to see if everything was still the same. Truth be told, it was and it wasn’t. The surroundings were familiar enough, nothing much had changed but in a sense everything had changed. I had changed. That seemed to make all the difference. So where did I go you might ask? Where was this place ..read more

Warrior? That’s What We’ll Become

Fate whispers to the warrior, “you cannot withstand the storm.” And the warrior whispers back “I am the storm.” ~ unknown I love this “warrior” quote and have referred back to it many times throughout my battles with chronic pain. It is the defiance of answering fate back that most appeals to me. The thought that OK, I have my lot in life but I don’t have to like it or accept it. So often now, we see titles such as Chronic Pain warrior, Fibromyalgia warrior, Chronic Illness warrior, Spoonie warrior. They are everywhere, often preceded by the # on social media. But what does it really mean to b ..read more

“Seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness”  ~Keats If I had to pick a favourite season, I think that Autumn would win hands down. The beautiful colours of the changing scenery and the gathering of the harvest has the power to take my breath away. Who can resist those lovely walks? Kicking through the fallen leaves as the weather brings a little chill to the air. The ultimate for me has to be utilising all those autumnal vegetables into a hearty stew. As the days shorten and the summer comes to a close, the beginning of Autumn according to the astronomical calendar takes place today, Sunday 23r ..read more

Where do you feel your pain? It’s so much more than physical – you know it!!! According to the Oxford Dictionary, the number one meaning for the word pain is “Highly unpleasant physical sensation caused by illness or injury.” For those of us who battle with chronic pain, we can totally relate. Whether our pain is caused by an illness or injury, chronic pain is all consuming. It is ever present, admittedly in varying degrees, but it is always there. Since my car accident, I truly now understand the concept of relentless physical pain. I am discovering that the injuries I have suffered, are so m ..read more

Does Your Pain Have a Purpose?
Fibro Fantastic | "To Thrive Not Just Survive"

Hard to believe that our pain actually could have a purpose? But, hold that thought… This time 2 years ago, I was just days away from a car accident which would have a dramatic effect on my life in terms of both physical and emotional pain. Thankfully, I was not seriously injured in the sense that I walked away from the crash. Nobody else was hurt. I honestly thought with a day or two of rest that things would be back to normal. I could never have imagined what the actual outcome would be. As the anniversary approaches, my pain is still as intense as it was in the early days after the accident ..read more

….it’s not that easy! When it comes to Explaining Fibromyalgia to Family & Friends, it’s a tough one. It isn’t something that comes easily to them or even to you for that matter. No matter how long you have battled with the condition, the reality is that you will always come up against opposition when you are trying to explain how this “invisible illness” affects you every day. I have battled Fibromyalgia since 1989 and I still think that there really isn’t one member of my family that just “gets it.” And to be fair, who can blame them. Most of the time, I look absolutely fine – a little t ..read more

Why Online Wellness Is The Way Forward

Taking Ownership For Your Own Health & Wellness ….and why I chose to share my online wellness strategies. Back in 1989 when my Fibro symptoms first showed themselves, I was given loads of conflicting advice from doctors. They had no idea of what I was battling on a day to day basis. It took them 11 years before they could actually put a name to the problem. Even after they uttered the words “Fibromyalgia” the reality was, they still didn’t know how to treat me. Over the years, I relied on myself to find out what I was dealing with. I did my own research and conducted a fact finding mission ..read more

The Benefits of Dry Body Brushing Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue is often associated with toxic overload and therefore, finding ways to reduce the toxins in our bodies is crucial to good health. Dry Body Brushing is a great addition to your daily routine. Many of us opt for a massage as this helps with our aches and pains.
