Gardens, design, food – welcome to South Tyrol
Happy Interior Blog

Last week I spent three days in a region in Central Europe that is rather unknown by many people outside the German speaking world. South Tyrol is a beautiful region in northern Italy bordering Austria – it combines the wilderness of the Alps with the beauty of a Mediterranean climate and lifestyle. Think of ‘The Sound of Music’ scenery combined with cypresses, oleander and a good chilled Spritz! South Tyrol is a perfect spot to enjoy throughout the seasons – whether you like sunny days by the pool and in lush gardens, or winter adventures in the mountains. Whatever season you choose, you ..read more

B&B in Skåne: Axatorpsgården
Happy Interior Blog

In my last blogpost I have taken you on a trip across Skåne, the southernmost province of Sweden. I have mentioned one of the bed & breakfast places I stayed at in the surroundings of Trelleborg: the Axatorpsgården B&B. Today I want to show you why this place left a lasting impression on me and why I cordially recommend this place for your visit to the region. Axatorpsgården is not just a B&B to spend some days. It is a love project founded by the mother and daughter duo Janina and Elin. Janina bought this old thatched farmhouse and gave it a second life with her daughter ..read more

Travel Tips for Skåne in South Sweden
Happy Interior Blog

A few weeks ago I embarked on a wonderful trip to Skåne, the southern tip of Sweden, following an invitation from the local tourism board Visit Skåne. I was excited because the only thing I knew about Skåne so far was its biggest city: Malmö. I traveled a few years ago to discover the city and its vibrant design scene. This time my mission was similar, yet broader. I was going to visit Malmö, Trelleborg and Helsingborg and attend the new design festival, the Southern Sweden Design Days. Little did I know how beautiful and picturesque Skåne is. My first days I spent in the vicinity of Tre ..read more

Living Room Makeover with Vetsak
Happy Interior Blog

After almost one and a half year in my Berlin apartment, the time has come for some changes. For quite a while there’s been a small but significant pain point in my living room. The seating options were limited, especially for gatherings and parties. Also the layout of the sofa and lounge chair and stools was more or less ok. But I was not fully convinced all this time. Moreover, I dearly love my vintage leather sofa by Brazilian designer Percival Lafer – but it is not the comfiest place to binge watch a Netflix series. And then Vetsak appeared in my life. Vetsak is a German-South African ..read more

Notes from a Digital Life
Happy Interior Blog

Hello dear readers (if there are any readers left)! What happened to blogging? If only I knew. I have lost a bit my mojo I think. Also this digital life has become quite draining – I kind of feel it more and more after almost three years of freelancing and mostly working by myself from home. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy, I like what I do. But sometimes I feel like it is too repetitive, it is too superficial, it is irrelevant, boring – did I mention repetitive? Well even the words here become recurring. Sometimes I wallow in memories and find it all quite astonishing. Not many of you will kn ..read more

The story of an EDELGRUND rug
Happy Interior Blog

Sometimes a rug in our home might be just a detail in home decor, a warm and soft layer on our floor, something we chose because of its look or its feel solely. When you opt for a handmade rug, then you also think of all the work and passion woven into the rug that will embellish your home. But how much do we actually know about how our rug at home was made? A few years ago, I was lucky to meet Maryam, the founder of EDELGRUND, a Germany based rug company with Persian roots. She introduced me to the incredible world of handmade Persian rugs and – silently – I had put an EDELGRUND rug on my w ..read more

November Days at Home
Happy Interior Blog

November is upon us and I am always a bit anxious when winter time kicks in here in the northern hemisphere. With our clocks turned back by one hour, the night falls early here. But on the other hand, this is also the time to get even more cozy at home, light some extra candles, play with the various lamps in the home, make tea, maybe even bake some cake. I snapped a few pictures of my Berlin apartment these day – not only to share them here, but also to get a kind of feeling from the pictures: how does the home feel like right now? It is kind of an external viewpoint even though I ..read more

Those of you who follow me on Instagram already know about the IGOR planter. I have co-designed a beautiful planter set with Gregor from Studio Faubel and his wife Julia, the founders of the design platform Et Studio Faubel. Together with Kober Porzellan, a traditional German porcelain maker with more than 100 years of expertise, we have finally finished the first round of IGOR planters that are now available to shop HERE. Recently I went to Franconia to visit the premises of Kober Porzellan and see how the IGOR planter is being produced. Many steps include manual work and there is due ..read more

Me and all hotels: Getaway to Ulm
Happy Interior Blog

When I talk with foreign friends about Germany, most of them know cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich. Sometimes Cologne and Frankfurt too. However, Germany offers so much variety across the country and one of those gems is the city of Ulm in the southern German province of  Baden-Württemberg. Truth be told, it was the first time for me too to visit Ulm. It was a sunny and mild weekend end of September when I took the train from Berlin to Ulm and headed to the local and pretty hip ‘me and all hotel ulm’. And what can I tell you – I was more than pleasantly surprised! Let me ..read more

Botanical Brunch with Royal Copenhagen

SPOILER ALERT: Get 12% off Royal Copenhagen & more designs at Connox by using 12IGOR until August 29th, 2021. My love for plants goes a long way – so long actually that I decided to host a botanical brunch this week. Together with one of my all-time favorite design online shops, Connox, I threw a little botanical brunch for three. My husband, who was a great help in preparing the food, and a good friend who helped finished the great food. But let me tell you that the food was not the main cast in this brunch – the tableware was! It’s been a long cherished wish of mine to have a set o ..read more
