Nurture. My intention and word for the year. 2022 was a year of stretching, of expanding my capacity through big contractions and expansions, beauty and pain. Asking me to tend to my roots (my nervous system and my sweet inner child) to cultivate a safety inside myself and a solid foundation as life stretched me to hold more, be more. As I felt into what is calling me in this new year, my brain went to alignment and expansion but my body didn’t stir for that. What she wants, what she softens to and gets excited about is nurturing. Nurturing my relationship with my sweet little inner Emi ..read more

Wednesday was a full moon. The last full moon of 2022. Lasts have a way of holding up a mirror to what was. Reflecting about the year and the circles and cycles that have landed me in this body in this moment. On the day of the last full moon of the year, my body began to cycle, on the same day I was meant to give birth. As waves of grief washed through me for the life that little soul would have had, born in the same year as 7 of its “cousins”, all I could do was allow. Allow the tidal waves of tears, allow myself to be witnessed in it as East and I drove from Pennsylvania to North Car ..read more

Waves

Waves of pain ripping through my lower body. Lower abdomen, low back, hips, womb. A wave of piercing pain and then relief, pain and relief. My body simultaneously healing, protecting, and betraying me.  I thought I was adept at meeting my feelings, meeting my shadow and the pain. Humbled yet again as I watch my survivor self desperately reach for a reprieve. For relief from the thunderous waves of pain on every level. Waves of grief and sadness as I hear about so many of my family and friends expecting, from a child being born on the show I am trying to use to escape, from the physical ..read more

While waiting at the Providence TF Green airport last month, accidentally two hours early for my flight to Charleston, I had the privilege of sitting and chatting with a 26 year old male naval officer. Somehow after talking about what we do for a living we got on the subject of feminism and gender in life and the military. Sitting there with my sauvignon blanc and a pizza I offered to shared with him, I was frankly in blissful shock to witness the maturity, intelligence, humility and grounded masculinity this young man embodied. His easeful, respectful and informed perspective made it seem si ..read more

The Cost of Not Being Heard
Love Living Holistics

Caution. For those who have also experienced sexual assault this may be triggering. Please lovingly use your own discernment to choose if reading this feels okay for you. Sexual assault takes a  piece of your soul. No matter how many years pass or how much light you conjure to fill the hole, that piece is lost to the moment when you were not heard.  To those who did not hear, you are not bad humans but there is a cost to your not listening, a cost you need to understand. A human forever walking through life missing a piece of their soul.  I was 16 and just beginning to come in ..read more
