Happy New year!! It’s been a funny old year and I’m not even going to begin to put it into words. I think we’ve heard about it enough. This first post of the year is usually a showcase of my favourite products of the previous twelve months, however due to my university course commitments this little blog continued to take a little bit of back seat and there haven’t been huge number of new products that I’ve tried or shared with you. Consequently I am putting a twist on this years summary… As well as my favourites of the (previously unshared) products I have featured on here in 2020, I wi ..read more

As we are now (somehow) teetering on the edge of the festive season, I thought I would share a timely product(s) which I have had my eye on in recent weeks; the Inika Limited Edition Beauty Advent Calendar. Each year (for possibly the past decade), I lust after various beauty advent calendars in the vain hope I may be presented with one on the first morning of December by my other half in return for the organic dark chocolate one which I (without fail) give to him. Needless to say I am still waiting. This year it was the Inika Limited Edition Beauty Advent Calendar which I had (in ..read more

I’m sure my love of cream blusher as not gone unnoticed (or unmentioned!); it is such a versatile product which is universally flattering. I recommend them to everyone who asks (and those who don’t!). Ere Perez Carrot Colour Pot in Harmony (£22.00) is one of the (few) lockdown additions to my pro kit, purchased on the recommendation of my friend Lou Dartford (thanks Lou!! x) Described as natural balms, the carrot colour pots are little (6.5gm) jars of cream blush. They have been designed as a multitasking cream, adding a pop of colour to the cheeks and eye as well as the lips ..read more

Organic Beauty and Wellbeing Week kicks off today. Until the 13th September, the Soil Association’s week long campaign is aimed at raising awareness of certified organic beauty and wellbeing products; highlighting the importance of certification and encouraging consumers to make sustainable choices. Did you know, there is no legislation in place to monitor the use of the word “organic” within beauty & wellbeing products? Don’t worry – you’re not the only one. Over 50% of people asked by research by the Soil Association didn’t know either, which is why opting for Organ ..read more

Today sees the start of the Soil Association’s month long annual event, Organic September. This year has brought so many changes, many of which have been unprecedented; In all honestly I have not idea where the past twelve months have gone and the past five months have been particularly strange. This year the Soil Association are collaborating with the Organic Trade Board (the organisation who represents the commercial interests of the organic sector) and a number of organic brands from across the industry and uniting with one clear and consistent  message: One ..read more

Early last year french Garnier (previously known as Laboratoires Garnier) launched a new skincare range certified by the Soil Association. I’m a little slow of the mark with this one but it took me a while to get around to trying it! There are six skincare products in the range: Lemongrass Detox Gel Face Wash (£5.99), Lavandin Smooth and Glow Facial Oil (£11.99), Argan Hydrating Mist (£7.99), Thyme perfecting Toner (£5.99), Cornflower Micellar Cleansing Water (£6.99) and the Konjac Sponge (£5.99). On whim I decided to try the Cornflower Micellar Cleansing Water (£6.99 from Superdrug) as ..read more

Earlier this month the UK was hit by a mini heatwave and we were subject to the hottest July day on record. I am not particularly good in the heat and the merest glimpse of an orange triangle (let alone a red one) on the weather forecast and those around me are bracing themselves for a rough ride. As soon as temperatures rise above 25OC (yes I am that intolerant of heat) I am reaching for products and items to relieve my heat induced misery… Having exhausted the bottle of facial spritz I had on the go (the Odylique Calming Rose Super Tonic), my attentions turned to t ..read more

From The Vault: Seduce Eye Polish – RMS Beauty

A few years back I attended the launch of the RMS Beauty Tinted Un-Cover Up powder at natural and organic beauty store Content. During the evening founder Rose-Marie Swift talked not only about the powder but also about the other products in her range; showing us not only how to get the best out of them but also how they can be used in other ways… I wasn’t planning on picking up an Eye Polish (£26.00) when I attended the launch however one of the (many) tips that Rose-Marie mentioned was the use of Seduce as a brow colour for blonde and lighter brunettes. A quick demo and ..read more

High Definition Facial Oil – Beauty Kitchen
Organic Makeup Artist Blog

Sometimes products find their way into your kit and before you know it you have repurchased and they have become a much love fixture. This is very much the case with this little gem… Beauty Kitchen’s Seahorse Plankton+ High Definition Facial Oil (£20.00) was very much an incidental inclusion in my pro kit. An eleventh hour shoot gave me no time for a restock and so I raided my untested stash for a facial oil and came up with this. previously I had only tried the odd thing from the Beauty Kitchen bath range (which I had loved – I wrote about the compostable wipes last year), but never tried an ..read more
