Thought the whole event was superbly choreographed (not just the dancers) but so ambitious - rather than using a tightly confined environment like a stadium the grandes sites of Paris provided an amazing backdrop and loved the narrative of delivering the torch from Zizou into street kinds into amazing parcours , Lots more too to enthuse about. Looking back, London 2012, the only other opening ceremony I’ve seen in this century tho’ much praised at the time, seems vapid in comparison to this spectacle ..read more

Hmm, I certainly don’t know as much as I’d like to about the geology of France and often wonder about the shaping of local landscapes - I need a book on the subject, preferably in English, tho’ these days I could probably manage one in French and that’d also be good language training ..read more

Most of the walking group’s info is now via Whatsapp, which I hate and so my wife handles that side of things. She told me that we were meeting at the church in Noailhac from where we’ve often started. I was surprised to see th ..read more

But I went on to enjoy all of Mayall’s work from Blues Breakers right up to about USA Union and Back to the Roots. I was fascinated that as a jobbing graphic designer he designed all his own album covers (which ex ..read more
