CFP Lab In-House Film Processing Service
Ryan Barrett
Camera Film Photo's Darkroom Specialst and Blogger
It’t an arm, or is it a leg….a tree….no a flag pole bent by the breath of a typhoon.
Looking at a photo born from expired film can be like driving through a rusty, puke-tinted, dust storm. Or perhaps the film is very expired in which case it’s like trying to identify vegetables in a Borsch soup. It’s true- some of us like the vomit haze effect of expired film. An effect which really sticks it to the 4K, HDR 2019 we’re living in.  ..read more

CFP Lab In-House Film Processing Service
Ryan Barrett
Camera Film Photo's Darkroom Specialst and Blogger
Here at the CFP lab, tucked away Hong Kong’s industrial jungle of stacked steel and cement, we subsist on a healthy diet of developing, scanning and printing film. Oh and lots of coffee- that holy liquid, brown as bleach, from filter or French Press that keeps the pulse of our mere lab rat heart at a steady pace. We love film here at the CFP lab, processing and printing it even more so, without it there would be only digital noise ..read more

Lensbaby Portraits on Film
Benoît Felten
CFP Blog contributor
A few years ago, when I was first getting into serious photography and before I started exploring analog, I purchased a Lensbaby Composer lens for my Canon DSLR. For those who haven't heard of the Lensbaby, it's a (rather expensive for what it is) selective focus manual lens. Basically, you decide which part of the frame will be in focus by tilting the lens (it's fixed to a rotating ball), focus, and the end result is more or less blurred depending on aperture. At first I was in love with the sele ..read more

Cuba on Ektarchrome
Vishal Soniji
Camera Film Photo's Founder
Last November my friend Dan also known as @ZDP189 on twitter invited me to go to Cuba with him to do some photography.
It's my first time going to Cuba and immediately with exciting me I was eager to shoot a series of images on the Kodak Ektachrome, which Kodak had just release after discontinuing it back in 2012. The film was initially set to release fourth quarter of 2017, however with delays the film was finally release on the October 1, 2018.

41st ICS Classic Camera Fair at Matsuya Ginza
Vishal Soniji
Camera Film Photo's Founder
Every year I travel to Japan to attend the ICS camera fair which takes place three times a year. First one takes place in February at "Matsuya Ginza", second and third one in June and September at Tokyu Department store in Shibuya.
In my opinion the first one is the best classic camera fair to attend because its the first fair of the year and there are some really great items for sale.
For collector its heaven as they are always able to find something to add ..read more

Get Them Started Early
Vishal Soniji
Camera Film Photo's Founder
I have a 5 year old daughter and last year I gifted her a Pink Konica EU-Mini. My daughter fell in love with the camera immediately as the camera was pink in colour.
She is clearly aware that the camera is a film camera not a digital camera because she growing up seeing me make pictures with film cameras so she was already aware that a roll of film needs to go into it before any images can be captured.
The only thing I taught her about the operation was how to open the film compart ..read more

Lets Give Bergger Pancro 400 120 a go. . .
Vishal Soniji
Camera Film Photo's Founder
Bergger Pancro was first released in 2016, the film was introduced in large format size 4x5, 5x7, 8x10, during the same year at Photokina they announced that they would be releasing the film in 35mm and 120. It was a very exciting news for the analog world because there was actually a new film, not a OEM or repackaged film but actually a new film.
Aurelien who is the "CEO" of Bergger was eager to have something different on the market and different meant being an origi ..read more

My First And Last Time At Tsukiji
Vishal Soniji

I have visited Tokyo many times but mostly I travel there for business, however back in August 2018, a friend of mine who is also my business partner in Japan said that I should make a visit the "Tsukiji" fish market before they close that area down and move to a newer building. To many this the "Tsukiji" fish market is famous for the Tuna auction which takes place daily early in the morning.
Every morning, tourist can visit Tsukiji to get free ticket to ..read more

Holga x JCH Streetpan Reversal
Ryan Barrett
Camera Film Photo's Darkroom Specialst and Blogger
The Holga is often equated with a toy. Is it because a Holga is made of plastic and so are most toys? Or that they’re both cheap and both mostly made in China? Sure, it’s plastic and cheap and creates heavily vignetted images which are the lo-fi antithesis of digital high resolution, but this seems to be the appeal. Creating anything near-decent on a Holga is like giving a big, plastic, made in China middle finger to the latest Fuj ..read more
