Staff and volunteers from St Luke’s Hospice are once again offering their fantastic Christmas Tree Collection service to the local area to raise vital funds for patient care. In January, more than 60 volunteers and St Luke’s staff will be working together to collect thousands of used Christmas trees in the area. A stunning 28ft Christmas tree is bringing festive cheer to St Luke’s Hospice thanks to the generosity of local councils. The beautiful illuminated tree, kindly donated by Winsford, Northwich and Middlewich Town Councils, is standing proud in the courtyard outside the Hospice’s Inpatient Unit for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers to enjoy. Doctors and nurses at St Luke’s Hospice are appealing for donations to help fund equipment including a ‘cuddle bed’ to bring comfort to patients this Christmas and in the years ahead. Staff have compiled a Christmas Wish List of items which they would like to purchase ranging from rise and recline chairs, wheelchairs and standing aids, as well as the specialist bed which allows families to cuddle their loved ones and offer comfort when they need it most. The pride of St Luke’s is now officially the Pride of Britain! 86 year-old St Luke’s Hospice fundraiser, Vera Rogers from Winsford, has been named the winner of The Pride of Britain North West Regional Fundraiser Award. Calling all small businesses and craft stalls! Bookings are now open for stalls at the St Luke’s Christmas Fair which will take place on Saturday 18th November at the Winsford Academy (10am to 2pm). The new Town Mayor of Winsford has pledged his ongoing support to St Luke’s Hospice. Councillor Ernie Welch visited the Hospice for a tour of the facility, accompanied by the Junior Mayor Lily Atkin aged 9.
