I have recently photographed on assignment for Loewe several of their new store openings in Europe and the Gulf and I feel I can state that I have dived into color like I had never done before. Loewe is a Spanish luxury fashion house whose style is characterized by its elegant, minimalist aesthetic, expert craftsmanship and focus on natural materials. Their new revamped stores incorporate a vibrant color palette that complements its signature leather goods creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere inspired by the brand’s creative  director Jonathan Anderson. The thoughtful and intentional ..read more

També pots llegir aquest article en català.  Puedes leer este artículo también en español. There are two facts that we must consider in order to implement an effective and profitable communication of a new architecture project. We have to first admit that the vast majority of the projects that we know we first know by the photographs that represent them. Second, we have to realize that the natural environment in which the life of photographs definitely happens today is the internet. If we think also that millions of pictures of new and interesting architecture projects from all ove ..read more

També pots llegir aquest article en català.  Puedes leer este artículo también en español. I have completed 30 years as an architectural photographer and I think that throughout all this time I have learned a few things that I should share here with you. I do not know really well what authority I have to write this beyond my many years of profession. The point for me is that the search for beauty in the built environment is deep and intense, that this is what I do and that I am very passionate and happy doing it. Would these be some kind of ‘my advice for young photographers’? The ..read more

També pots llegir aquest article en català.  Puedes leer este artículo también en español. The natural environment in which the life of photographs happens is the internet. That was true when I first wrote this post in 2014 and it is even more so in 2020. Some years have passed but it is also still valid today as it was in 2014 to state that the vast majority of the architecture projects that we know we first know mainly because of the photographs that represent them. As professional architecture photographers, we continue creating images to explain a project in a simple and attra ..read more

The Batlló House at Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia is one of Antoni Gaudi UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city and sure one of the most visited and photographed buildings in the whole planet. What can you actually do when you are a Barcelona raised architectural photographer and you get commissioned by Batlló House to portray the work of a genius like Gaudi? Maybe then the most difficult part of the assignment is to really stop and trying to completely forget the almost daily relationship you have with the building –fifteen minutes walking from my place– because otherwise you will nev ..read more

Professional architectural photography is a complex collaborative work whose function is to represent in images the collective effort of raising architecture and buildings. The photographs created with this intent have to implement in a simple and persuasive way the vision of the authors of the architecture project and to satisfy the interests of all the parties involved and show it to a huge potential audience and to do it also in an effective and profitable way. With this approach in mind, I want to list here seven inconveniences that I feel they slow down the delicate creative mechan ..read more

Always from the beginning of my professional career I have photographed contemporary architecture for architects, designers, publishers, communication, strategic marketing agencies and industrial firms mainly. Architecture of the 20th century since I started taking pictures in the early 9 ..read more

The Casa Vicens is the first project built by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005. This small summer cottage in the village of Gràcia was commissioned in 1883 by the wealthy broker Manuel Vicens to the then young architect Antoni Gaudí. The house is currently located and open to the public on 20, Carolines Street, in Barcelona. That's what the great Humberto Rivas told me in a portrait workshop in Barcelona more than twenty years ago. I was a very young photographer then and maybe I thought that I could learn in two days what took a master like him a lifetime to know. That workshop had nothing to do about technique but clearly about understanding what made the person who I was supposed to portray unique and how to convey that quality into a photograph.
