There have been a further 20 plus salmon and grilse caught over the last couple of weeks on the Stanley beats despite low water and blistering temperatures. We have waited all summer for a run of salmon but it has finally happened in the last couple of weeks. In July we were dominated with hot weather and low water with river temperatures exceeding 70F daily. The weather has broken giving us fresh water and cooling the river encouraging summer salmon to run.  Initially it was slow with the river collapsing to 2" in Tim Greenfields week however there were still some memories created. It has been a slow summer period until the last week or so with very low water and high temperatures however some welcome rain put some fresh water in the river and encouraged a summer run to start.  This was a delighted Rachael Russel with her first ever salmon, a Grilse caught on the Pitlochrie beat on her last cast of 2 days fishing. Salmon Fishing Scotland Final Stanley Beat Report 2020. It was a reasonably quiet end to the season with only a few fish landed over the last week. The river was surrounded with Autumn gold but there was little evidence of silver in the river confirming that there was no late back end run.  In the last few days Gerry Martin landed a nice fish in Luncarty pool from the boat.  David Brand landed a smaller salmon on the fly from Luncarty. The Stanley beats on Pitlochrie, Benchil and Luncarty have been witnessing some large late salmon over the last few days.  Becci Roberts hooks a good fish in Aitken Head on the Benchil Beat just below Stanley.
