There has been some cracking international cricket at Forfarshire’s Forthill ground over the last fortnight and, in Angus and across to Perth & Kinross, there are some cracking community clubs currently enjoying the 2024 campaign. One such club is Breadalbane Cricket Club, based in Aberfeldy and formed way back in 1869. The club play in Victoria Park in Aberfeldy and the ground sits between the golf course, bowling and tennis clubs with great views of the surrounding hills. A remarkable debut performance from Charlie Cassell saw Scotland hammer Oman by eight wickets to make it back-to-back wins at Forfarshire. The Eagles and Stormers squads for this week’s Women’s Super Series action at Goldenacre have been confirmed. The two squads will meet in three 40-over fixtures on Tuesday 23 July, Thursday 25 July and Friday 26 July. The Eagles will be led by Head Coach Leigh Kasperek, whilst the Stormers Head Coach will be Joe Kinghorn-Gray. Scotland ensured they would be not denied by the weather on this occasion, as they defeated Namibia by 47 runs on DLS. George Munsey (91) and Richie Berrington (79*) and helped Scotland post 290-9, and it was a game that always looked in the balance throughout Namibia’s reply, before Michael Leask ran through the lower order to ensure victory for Scotland. Scotland were left frustrated by the rain against Oman, forced from the field with just 25 runs required for victory, with the weather failing to relent as the two sides were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
