Goal Setting Mistakes you deserve to know about

Building better habits and setting productive goals is in their air during school supply season. It’s the best and I miss school so I’m cashing in! By trading my wine-downs for more intentional activities. Maybe it’s the smell of pencil shavings coming from my daughter’s backpack and the way it smells a little too much like the box of Pinot Noir from Trader Joe’s, but this month is officially dubbed Sober September. I’m celebrating solo, unless you count my kids. Although the baby does get over attached to Cocomelon, but we’ll excuse that! Still, I’m starting to come back to life and exciting ..read more

It’s been over a year (!!!) since my last published post on here, and I think that calls for some explaining.  if not for you, then for me as this is kind of totally how I will keep track of memories one day. Notice how I didn’t call it a diary? Well that’s because it isn’t an accurate term for what I do here. Except right now!  When we last spoke, or typed… read? Whatever.  I was giving baby girl’s room a makeover. I’m happy to say that it is mostly done! Phew! Not a complete screw up high five from me to me… it’s adorable and I’m obsessed with where it’s at, even though it ..read more

ORC Week 2: trading wood for MDF moulding & trim
Pretty Passive

I didn’t get this out in time for week 2’s link up at the One Room Challenge blog, but week 2’s work certainly happened! This week I altered my og window trim and tile sill coverup. I traded the wood for mdf and shrunk the sizes as well. The sill is still a 1×6 (5.5” deep) but the surround trim is now a 1×3 (2.5” wide) instead of the 1×4 I used everywhere else. Wood v MDF moulding The only reason why I made the switch was, of course, the cost. Wood prices are wild, y’all. I can think of a few scenarios when I would stick to wood for a project like this, but these windows didn’t make the cut. I ..read more

One Room Challenge spring 2022 – big girl rainbow room

I’m back for another One Room Challenge to give my big girl an upgraded and intentionally curated space. There’s been some hemming and hawing on my part about *committing* like this, but today is the deadline to submit our moods and here I am! The challenge acts more like an accountability project for me. And although I’m always working on a dozen different things, it’s so nice to have a clear vision for a space from start to finish. This helps me prioritize the planning portion of a project which is not always natural for me. When it comes to the fun stuff, I just do it and look forward to re ..read more

Starting the perfect small business with small kids
Pretty Passive

There’s been a ton of inspiration around here, and I’ve been making big moves! In truly pretty passive fashion, we are starting a service based business which I never wanted to do. My opinion has always been that there’s too much work involved. I like my money to be made around the clock, not just when I can get away. However, this small business model is almost exclusively on the weekends so I am less worried about overstretching myself. And I am PUMPED about it. I’m also trying to be elusive and am imagining a drumroll before I tell you what it is but this is text soooooooo……. readyyyy ..read more

Happy New Year & 2022 updates
Pretty Passive

I can’t believe 2020 AND 2021 are over. These past few years have been so busy, and after adding another baby into the mix the juggling act that is my life has evolved tremendously. It’s been pretty quiet on here and throughout all of my online escapades, so I want to share what we’ve been up to and what I’m hoping to for this year. Last year While I wasn’t entirely present on my blog via posts, I am always working on drafts/products/email list things/bigger goals in the background. The deck plans I finally created some simple, saw less deck plans after being asked for years(!!!). Thousands of ..read more

Moving out to-do list

Now that the secret’s out, I want to document the prepping to sell process. I probably don’t need to do any of this, but I want to get this house in the best shape of her life to get the most money possible out of her. A little paint goes a long way, but with all the poking and prodding I’ve done around this house, the least I can do is clean up my mess. So that’s what I’ll be doing in the coming months. All of these are pretty simple projects. No more tearing down walls or anything. Just fun finishers to make a space *complete* so naturally they are all very unnatural for me. It’s hard to clo ..read more

Must Have DIY Tools
Pretty Passive

I am an amateur woodworker and DIY everything kind of girl. My tool collection has been building over the last 5 years since we bought our house. Some of these tools have been gifted by relatives which has helped! A few things to note: The first tool we bought here was our drill & driver set and is part of the Porter Cable tool suite which all run off the same battery. Because of that, my late father-in-law helped us grow that brand specific tool set and I have zero complaints! They are amongst the more affordable brands. Other similar, affordable & reliable brands are Ryobi, Milwaukee ..read more

How to Build Simple base cabinets – Laundry Room Reno part 1
Pretty Passive

Cabinets. I built… cabinets. It’s still a little hard to believe, because I’ve always been so intimidated. We needed them, but we needed them to maximize efficiency in our laundry/pantry/tool storage utility room. So ikea wouldn’t work (too small) and the prefab at Home Depot wouldn’t work (too big/bulky). Instead I figured out how to build the frames using 1 sheet of 3/4 inch MDF and 2 2x3s. The countertop isn’t very sophisticated, but it’s a surface ? The doors aren’t completed yet, but stay tuned. I learned so much and there are some things I would do a little differently next time. And the ..read more

6 secrets for long-distance relationship success
Pretty Passive

If you’re faced with making a long distance relationship (LDR) work then you already know: it is daunting. But if you both want to get through it and come out the other side with a healthy relationship then I have good news! It is very much possible, especially in the age of texting/video chatting. There is a solid understanding in our society that long distance is the wrong distance in a happy and successful relationship. However, when that aspect isn’t 100% in your control, it can be a temporary descriptor instead of the reason to call it quits. Although it isn’t always fun, it is a means to ..read more
