Google Pixel phones got several new features as part of the December 2023 Feature Drop. One that may have flown under the radar, however, is a new 'Repair Mode.'
Repair Mode is basically exactly as it sounds -- a special mode users can enable to protect their data when a device is sent in for repairs. Android expert Mishaal Rahman detailed how Repair Mode works on Pixel phones in a recent YouTube video, which you can view below.

The Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN), the governments of Canada and Ontario, and Rogers jointly announced that Rogers 5G mobile services will be available in new areas thanks to building 18 new telecommunications sites and upgrading seven existing sites.

Apple might have plans to boost iPad sales with a refresh of its two higher-end tablets in early 2023.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, an often reliable source of leaks, Apple is preparing to reveal two new iPad Air models, coming in at 10.9-inches and 12.9-inches, similar to the iPad Pro, alongside an 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro with OLED screens.
It's unclear when or if Apple plans to update its iPad mini and base-model iPad, which are both overdue for a refresh.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that hundreds of PlayStation accounts had been accidentally banned (via The Verge). While it's still unclear why this happened, at least some users seem to now have access to their PlayStation accounts again.
Several banned users had their accounts restored after contacting PlayStation's customer service, while others didn't reach out to the tech giant at all but were still able to use their accounts again (some were also told to call back later).

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) says it will eliminate 600 jobs and that 200 vacancies will not be filled as the public broadcaster manages a $125 million budget shortfall. This amounts to 10 percent of the CBC's workforce.
Most of the layoffs will come from its corporate divisions, including technology and infrastructure, along with the CBC and Radio-Canada, its French-language arm, cutting roughly 250 positions, respectively. The broadcaster says it's also cutting its English and French programming budgets, reducing new television series and episodes of existing TV shows.

Air Canada is offering up to two free months of Apple TV+ and Apple Fitness+.
You'll need an Apple ID to get the offer, but that's it. I was able to get both codes without even signing into my Air Canada account.

Google Files, a file management app for browsing files, storage clean-up and offline file transfers, is testing a new feature that aims to make finding documents on your phone easier.
The new feature, called Smart Search, uses machine learning capabilities to enhance searching within Files.
Within the the app's setting the feature is described as a tool to "get better search results with automatic scanning of your on-device file content."
