In honor of Mother’s Day yesterday, I thought it fitting to post a sweet newborn session. I had the privilege of photographing this family when they welcomed their first several years ago. So it was especially sweet to document their newest addition, baby Lucy. It was fun to see how much Ben had grown and how he was taking to being a big brother now. And it looks like Shelby the dog is taking it all in stride, too. Here’s a few favorites from this Fairfax newborn session:   ..read more

Spring is truly here with lovely blooms, fresh green leaves on the trees, and birds serenading in the morning.  I think it must be a nice time to have a baby–the weather is just getting warm enough to take walks without having to be completely bundled up And speaking of new babies, I photographed Rhys back in March with his big brother Cole and parents.  I love newborn sessions like this–the older sibling(s) make for fun and unpredictable interactions. Here are a few favorites from this Cheverly, Maryland newborn session ..read more

Well so much for an early spring! The cherry blossoms are only now coming out. We got a teaser back in February for baby Will’s nine month photo session. It’s hard to believe these photos were from a month ago! Since we were assuming the weather would be cold, we scheduled the session for inside the National Museum of Art in D.C., but with the sun shining and the air warm, we found a great spot outside for more pictures. Here are a few favorites from Will’s portrait session. I love his grin! It’s been fun capturing his first year, and I can’t believe the next time I see him he’ll be a year ..read more

Yes! It’s the first of March, and they’re already predicting the peak bloom for the cherry blossom around the Tidal Basin here in D.C.  This mild winter is shaping up to welcome an early spring! So, with cherry blossoms, that means the return of Cherry Blossom Mini-Sessions! If possible I think I love the look of the cherry blossoms maybe just a tiny bit more than colorful fall foliage. Or maybe it’s just that it coincides with spring (or in this case “spring”), and I’m always ready to be done with winter. When will the blossoms be reaching peak bloom? The forecast calls for March 14th-17 ..read more

Hello dear neglected blog of mine. It’s been a busy past few months! Fall came with its usual jump in family photo sessions (which I love), and then the holidays hit with the fun, family, and friends that we all so enjoy. And well, there’s a been a few other things going on, too.  Come this June, Jay and I are expecting to welcome another sweet little one of our own into our family. Harriet is very excited to be getting a sister…and Frederick just has no clue!  All that to say, I’ve been pretty busy the last few months. Now I’m looking forward to spring and some great family and newb ..read more

Yes, fall is here, and with it come lots of beautiful and fun family sessions. Here is one such family session taken on Capitol Hill. The leaves hadn’t quite changed yet, but you can see the lovely fall light filtering through the trees. I so enjoyed catching up again with Ben and his parents and capturing his great personality. Here a few favorites from this family photo session ..read more
