Happy Halloween! Ok, the day after Halloween, aka “Candy Sale Day!” I have had a hard time finding time to sew. Pajama pants are kind the greatest because they are a quick sew, if you can find the time, and they are easy to fit! The 5 out of 4 Pajama Pants are my absolute favorites. They have pockets and they fit so well! (I actually made these a little roomy and I love them!)   Here’s a photo of Ezra the kitten “helping.” The fabric is a nice soft 4-way stretch knit from JoAnn’s Fabrics last year. I like to add a little decorative stitch to the hem. I chose a bright green fabric to mat ..read more

I live in the Midwest and summer here is hot as anything and humid to boot! So shorts are required summer wear. Even in October it seems Missouri has temperatures in the 90’s. I am not a fan.   Now if you have ever bought shorts you know there are many issues to contend with, inseams that are too short or too long, waist bands that dip too low in the front or the back, or I have even tried on shorts that were being sold with a rip in the butt cheek. It’s finally fall! We are still having some warm days, but I have gotten to wear a sweater at least twice! Last year about this time we were in Edinburgh, Scotland on our honeymoon and I had scored 2 meters (a little over 2 yards) of clearance plaid from Edinburgh Fabrics.  (The cat hair is from Ezra the kitten, not Edinburgh Fabrics.)   Black and white plaid, a classic! I really wanted to use this classic fabric for a classic shape. I knew I would want a skirt, but I wanted something with a little extra OOMPF! I used one of my MyBodyModel 3 body drawings to sketch out the pat ..read more

I don’t know about your workplace, but my office is chilly even in the heat waves this summer! Most people in my office keep a sweater, jacket, or, I kid you not, blankets at their desks! I have this lightweight jacket that looks like a knit pea coat that I got at Target for about $20 several years ago. It’s a great little jacket that I can throw in an overnight bag or hang from the back of my chair and not worry about it.   I do have one complaint about it and that is the sleeve length.  Look how short they are! I mean for $20 I am not complaining loudly, but I also bought this be ..read more

I’ve never been much of a purse carrier. In fact, most of the time I leave my purse at home and use my phone case as a wallet and then find that I wish I had my chapstick or hand lotion. I only own two purses, one in black and one in navy and the black one is starting to look worse for the wear! I haven’t been able to find anything in stores that I like. I really want something that is two-toned. So I have been looking at purse and tote patterns that fit the bill! Style Arc I’m a big fan of Style Arc’s clothing patterns and they also have accessories! Both the New York Tote and the Paris ..read more
