Problems In 2018, the Department of State requested that companies like SPACE bid for a task order to furnish a new, four-story educational building on its Foreign Service Institute campus in Arlington, Virginia.  They were hoping to move staff there, with top-of-the-line work stations, private offices, and ancillary spaces. Solutions Through an excellent bid proposal by our sales and design team, SPACE was honored to be awarded two task orders, valued at over $2 million. The design team selected beautiful Haworth furniture—including high quality wood veneer products for the offices and w ..read more

Problems Midland Reformed Church reached out to us at SPACE Inc. in the hopes of brightening up their basement space.  The church hosts its nursery and Sunday School programs in the lower level of their building. But, as is often the case, it was beginning to feel tired, dark, and gloomy—especially with its low ceilings.  Some water damage had also contributed to a musty smell, so they wanted to find a solution that would prevent further issues like this. Solutions The most important solution we found for this project was a special carpet product. Most carpet selections have a plasti ..read more

Do you have a place where you feel like you belong—outside of your house and office? We spend the majority of our lives at work or at home—or for some, maybe your car! Where do you go when you need something else? A place you feel happy and comfortable, with no judgment? Third places are defined as places where people spend time between home (first place) and work (second place). They are locations meant to break down social silos and are spaces where we exchange ideas, have a good time, and build relationships.  The term was coined by sociologist Ray Oldenburg and examples include bars ..read more

Liz Drew, recently promoted to Senior Proposal Coordinator, is a detailed, energetic, and positive young woman who is always willing to help others. How did your path lead to SPACE? Great question! I actually began my career as an ICU nurse, so this was certainly a pivot. I soon realized I wanted to explore opportunities in business, so I went back to school and joined SPACE in early 2020 as an order entry specialist.  At the time, I was captivated by the team photos on the website. It looked like such a fun team to work for, plus so many people had long tenures within the organization. P ..read more
