Being a photographer in a large city like Houston doesn’t always lend itself to capturing landscape photos. Between buildings and houses and streets, it can be a challenge to find open skies, so I’d like to share a few tricks I’ve learned over the years as well as encourage you to think outside the box. Take this image for example: You may think this is an open field in rural Texas but it’s actually just a tiny lot sitting right next to a gas station and McDonald’s. With some light fluffy clouds to diffuse the midday sun, I was able to retain cloud detail and enhance it a bit in post processi ..read more

There’s much joy to be found in the ordinary. Taking a walk and seeing that amazing Texas sky always leaves me feeling hopeful and not so alone. The world is a big place, and while we’re still taking things easy here in the Houston area, it’s good to be reminded that beauty is every where… even in our own backyard! Many of these images can be created in your backyard too! It’s all about the location of the sun. Sunset is usually the best time of day, but if you have trees diffusing the light or have pockets of shade, those are good times to capture memories as well. I hope you, too, are docume ..read more

Just a quick post to share more of our in-home images during the Spring and early summer months while social distancing. Hoping for the opportunity to continue being a Houston family photographer this fall and capturing the beautiful families of Texas! Also, who has enjoyed their hammocks this summer!? I don’t think ours has ever been so loved as it has while playing in the backyard this season. It’s just one of the many little things I’m grateful for right now ..read more

Well, y’all, it’s been a doozy of a year! Photographers, like many others, have taken a big hit. Being a family photographer is all about interacting with families and capturing memorable moments. While those interactions have been on hold for months, it is my hope to re-open this fall for some lovely, laid back in-home portraits. But time will tell cause things keep changing! Until then, life has been for us what it’s been for many of you- at home and making the best of a rotten situation. May these in-home images from this past late winter and early spring bring you joy and inspiration as yo ..read more

Skies are one of my absolute favorite things to capture with my camera. They can be colorful, cloudy, bright and cheerful or moody and gloomy. Being a person who identifies strongly with emotions and feelings, skies speak to my soul on a deep, personal level. It’s a beautiful exploration when I have the opportunity to photograph skies in all their glory, and that’s exactly what I got this past December when we visited our family in west Texas. If you know much about this area, then you know storm clouds are few and far between. Sand storms, sure, all the time. Dust devils, check. But rainfall ..read more

In-home family sessions: they are truly unique and full of nostalgia. The majority of our memories are made in our homes. It is the single, most special place for our children and a refuge for us moms and dads. This is where we play, laugh, cry, cook, relax, clean… and it is here that taking family photos captures our families in it’s most natural way. Many people worry that taking photos in their home won’t look as good as images taken outdoors. And they would be right, if hiring a photography who doesn’t specialize in this type of photography. It’s taken me years of practice and that’s what ..read more
