How To Avoid Boredom It is our goat at the SMIS Middle School to fully engage your son with active learning, stimulating electives, options for after-school sports, arts and robotics opportunities and we have school-wide expectations that each student becomes an independent reader and socially competent adolescent boy.  It is my observation is that the vast majority of our students are taking advantage of these opportunities and are taking the responsibility for ownership of these important areas of their development and are generally not bored.
