Almost 1 in 5 (18%) businesses plan to use more outside talent this year, according to new data from RGP and YouGov. Overall, the survey results show that companies anticipate using a multifaceted approach to workforce development. Over 80% of businesses surveyed currently plan to increase their investment in workforce development this year. More than half (57%) of the job seekers surveyed for CompTIA’s latest Job Seeker Trends report were looking for careers in a different field during the final quarter of 2023. The cost-per-application on job postings declined almost 30% in 2023, according to Appcast’s 2024 Recruitment Marketing Benchmark Report. Meanwhile, the average clicks and applies per job increased. Six in 10 CEOs listed retaining and engaging employees as their top priority for 2024, according to a new survey from Chief Executive. Remote work could be beneficial for work that requires deep concentration. A new report from Hubstaff found that remote employees spend more time daily on focused tasks than their in-office counterparts. They also experience fewer interruptions. Hubstaff found that remote teams devote 59.48% of their week to “focus time” compared to just 48.5% of in-office teams. 353,000 Jobs Joined Nonfarm Payroll in January: BLS Jobs Report

Nonfarm employment increased by 353,000 in January, according to the latest BLS jobs report. The average job growth per month in 2023 was 255,000 jobs. The unemployment rate held at 3.7% for the third consecutive month, with 6.1 million people counted as unemployed. The labor force participation rate was also unchanged at 62.5%.  Industries with the most job growth over the month included professional and business services (+74,000), health care (+70,000), and retail trade (+45,000).
