This year’s State of Workers report from Morning Consult suggests remote work may be losing some of its popularity. Compared to the last quarter of 2023, new hires are starting off the year feeling a little less satisfied with the job search process, according to ZipRecruiter’s Q1 2024 Survey of New Hires. Just 58% of the 1,500+ recently hired U.S. employees surveyed for the report had a positive job search experience in Q1, down from 60% the previous quarter. Nonfarm payroll added 303,000 jobs in March, according to the latest BLS jobs report, exceeding the 12-month average monthly gain of 231,000.  Health care again led growth, increasing by 72,000 jobs in March, followed by gains in government (+71,000) and leisure and hospitality (+49,000). Job openings, hires, and quits all were relatively unchanged during the month of February. This news comes from the recently released BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover report. The number of job openings came in at 8.8 million on the last day of February, slightly less than January’s 8.9 million.
