Trends. Some come and go, while others cycle around each year. Although leather on leather may be a trend this year, it probably isn’t the one that will capture the hearts of most people seeking a pared-down, versatile wardrobe. (I mean, go for it, if you’re into it!)
I’ve chosen five 2019 fall trends that, in my opinion, aren’t really all that trendy. That’s a good thing! Animal prints, particularly leopard, don’t seem to be going anywhere. Lace ..read more

Note: Although I received these items in exchange for this review, the opinions expressed are 100% my own! Purchasing something from links or images may result in me earning an affiliate commission (at no extra cost to you), which helps me run this blog. THANK YOU!! I remember hearing about a new NYC-based direct-to-consumer denim brand a few years ago that everyone was talking about. Always on the hunt for great jeans at a decent price, I was super excited to check out Mott & Bow. Somehow, they fell off my radar for a while, but now a pair of jeans and a gorgeous cashmere sweater ar ..read more

Conversations around capsule wardrobe color palettes often seem to focus on selecting the right neutrals so that you have a good foundation for your wardrobe. While I think neutrals are certainly important, I don’t necessarily think they make or break a color palette. However, I believe there are three colors that everyone must have in their capsule wardrobe palettes, and they aren’t the same for everyone!
Your eyes and skin are the secrets to finding out the three colors you absolutely must have in your capsule wardrobe palette. 3 foolproof capsule colors

I was proud of the intro I’d written to this recipe a few weeks ago, but then I made a stupid mistake and lost it all. With fall right around the corner in the Northern Hemisphere, I figured I’d better write a new post, stat! The start of San Francisco fall tends to be warmer than summer, so I’m hoping to make this dish at least once more before the November chill sets in.
Weekend dinner planning often develops throughout the course of the day in my house. We often start with what we have on hand and think about how we c ..read more

I have said it before, and I’ll say it again: each person has different “needs” and I do not believe in the “one style suits all” premise. However, I do believe that general categories of items lend themselves to generally being useful. An army jacket, a 3/4 length coat, a leather jacket, a long cardigan, and a denim jacket will fit into most people’s lives and wardrobes pretty well. In some locations, you won’t need a true coat: shop according ..read more

THE MARINA DISTRICT
As the name implies, the Marina District in San Francisco is located on the San Francisco Bay and harbors many a beautiful sailboat.
As you travel the walking paths from Fort Mason to Crissy Field, gazing at the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and Marin in the distance, you’re likely to marvel at the beauty of the Bay. There are many days, for sure, that you can’t even see the bridge from Marina Green due to the tick fog announced by multiple sonorous horns.
After you have walked along water, it’s time ..read more

I love Dutch Babies. I might have had them once or twice as a child, but they really did not become a part of my food lexicon until law school. We’d make our way to the Original Pancake House and devour these beauties. I think technically they are supposed to be shared amongst a group, but rarely did that happen because we all wanted our own.
Although they are frequently served with preserves, apples, or something else sweet, I prefer mine just the way OPH served theirs: with butter, powdered sugar, and extra lemons! I p ..read more

Jumping into a capsule wardrobe head first can be pretty daunting. In fact, for some people there’s so much self-imposed pressure to get it “right” that it keeps them from even trying. Let’s set aside the idea of a full seasonal capsule and focus instead of testing the waters with a mini-capsule: 12 pieces, 3 colors, so many possibilities! The 12 Item Minimal Capsule WardrobeThis sample wardrobe is as minimal as it gets. The palette is neutral and the pieces are the kind of basics you see in so many capsule wardrobe examples, so why are we showing them again here? Starting simple is often th ..read more
