Can we go back again? Is there a past period of our lives that those of us who are in our fifties look back upon dreamily as the days we long for? Or are we happy where we are right now? I grapple with that quandary often when I day dream about those Friday mornings more than twenty years ago spent happily at playgroup with my toddlers, or the carefree afternoons in college many years before that sunning on the dormitory lawn. Was there a perfect time? Was it wasted on me while it was happening, and now I look back mournfully and realize I didn’t appreciate the joyful times while they were occ ..read more

Musings About David Crosby Passing and the Boomer Generation
Better After 50 Magazine
by Edwin Eisendrath

Today, let’s talk about transitions.  David Crosby died this week.  He was part of the generation of musicians that created that unique alloy of folk and rock that became so popular in the late 60s & 70’s. There are so many ways to experience New Zealand and my husband and I decided we wanted to be immersed in nature, travel with a small group and use a local tour company. We signed on for a 2 week roa ..read more

I was walking down the street feeling stunningly empty. No thoughts were rushing through my forever busy mind. No feelings were attached. I felt nothing at all. The kids were laughing loudly in Hyde park chasing each other; it was sunny and warm. The spring was in its full swing, and I could feel all the smells of blooming pink trees and flowers feeling my nostrils with each desperately taken breath. I was breathing it all in… and yet I felt – nothing. Aliveness and its delicious electricity that used to run all through my veins and every cell of my being seized to show up! I was walking down ..read more
