Welcome to Spira Power Yoga – Issaquah
We are a local family owned studio located in Issaquah and West Seattle.
Our West Seattle location has been open for 8 years, and we routinely get published as top 10 in Seattle by magazines. Dora, the owner of Spira lives in Issaquah and long wanted to start a community near her backyard, she opened Spira Issaquah January of 2019.
Our Issaquah studio is modern, at the same time warm and welcoming.
Spira has amazing teachers who are not only well educated, they are also kind, and generous.

Freedom is cherished and defended by Americans and since in
July we celebrate Independence Day, the most integral representation of our
idea of freedom, I thought this would be a perfect time to mindfully reflect on
what is freedom.
Are we really free?
Reaching for Freedom
We speak of freedom of speech, freedom of expression as if
it is a simple straight forward concept. But that is far from the truth. Those
of you well versed in philosophy, history, and law know that there are tens of
thousands of pages written on topics related to freedom. There is a curious
divide between our cult ..read more

Have you ever experienced burnout?
I mean the total absolute collapse of your world; overwork, the disillusionment of moral universe, endless fatigue while trying to hold it all together? Well, I have. Ironically, I make a living teaching burnout prevention. It goes to show that it can happen to anybody, and it will happen especially if you are passionate about your work.
There is something incredibly heartbreaking when your passion turns into fatigue.
When the meaning of your life turns against you, it is like a midlife crisis on drug ..read more

Summer is often the time for ‘light’ reading; magazines are full of paperback recommendations for the beach. I feel differently about the summer; when I slow down, I like to reflect, I like to soak up an aspect of humanity that has nothing to do with production and efficiency that we so love to chase at work. I love the written word, but there is always an exception. Sidney Poitier’s read of his Autobiography “The Measure of a Man” should be enjoyed as an audiobo ..read more

Can we change our culture? How could technology help small businesses?
Greater Seattle is a very progressive town. Shop local and organic is practically tattooed on our forehead.
But local does not stop with food. Many of our gyms, yoga studios, and restaurants are increasingly corporately owned, as a consumer we know it feels different to step into a family owned a gym, restaurant or yoga studio. Our world is more and more isolated, and these local small businesses are often the last hold-out of the urban community.
Seattle is also a technologically driven town. We love our Apps that provide ..read more

Why not more retail and fancy stuff? Instead just my mom’s paintings on the wall.
I often get the question; Dora, why don’t you do more retail? How about a restaurant on the side? Why not add a nice spa or a lounge area? My answer is always the same; I am a yoga teacher, I teach teachers, mindfulness, and yoga. My interest is not to make a spa experience, my interest is to provide the best education in yoga with the best teachers in an environment where you don’t feel like you got to keep up with the Joneses. Yoga is not about fancy pants, and spa, and the latest trends. Yoga for the past 3 ..read more
