Embedded, in-house and on-site Talent Acquisition’s rather taking off. If it seems like there are more agencies than ever offering their own brand of on-site solution.
Some agencies were founded under the very principle. And for the last few years have been rather noisily changing the landscape around hiring.
Some have pivoted only mildly and now offer smaller arms, or productised hiring where their agency recruiters sit on-site, some of the week.

It’s apparently a myth that ostriches bury their head in the sand at the sight of danger.
That might be fairly obvious though, because if you think about it, they wouldn’t have survived that long if they stuck their tiny heads in sand, showing their long juicy necks for predators to gorge on.
That said, it’s a nice analogy.

There’s an awful lot of recruitment companies in existence. More so than ever before. In fact around 8,000 more UK businesses that’ve formed since Jan 2020 apparently.
That means choice.
Choice for recruiters in general, and choice for your staff.
It means when they’re headhunted by rec2recs on LinkedIn, they’ll know there are other options, if this place isn’t quite right.
But that alone isn’t your problem.

Do you know what the opposite of fragility is?
It’s not robustness or strength.
If something’s robust it will be less fragile, but the opposite would mean something that actually benefits from stress and harm. Something that should be mishandled.
Unlike fragile items which break under stress, anti-fragile items actually benefit from volatility and stress.

A lot of agency Founders understand retention’s importance. Some view it as critical a cog as hiring. But there’s a fairly strong argument for it being more crucial.
A “lost” employee can cost a company anywhere between 30% to 400% of their annual salary.
You already know this.
For starters, think about the financial cost a loss of billings would bring you. Obviously it depends on the employee in question. But it could be huge.
And then there’s the morale deficit if it’s one of your best characters.

I don’t get to share as many email chains these days. Sadly I think the world’s become a little more understanding of each other since last year.
No doubt they’ll become more frequent as we’re allowed out the house once more.

Hullo again.
You’ll know by now I like a wind up.
And for no other reason than that, I’ve recently been writing letters to the Government.
Letters are, in my opinion, an underused format. You see, in times gone by everyone relied on the post. It was mainstream, but these days it’s borderline defunct.
Now, email’s the norm.
And that means you’re much more likely to get something read if you step into the physical world and send a real letter.
This works pretty well with clients too by the way. If you can somehow navigate the fact that knowing their home address isn’t weird and creepy.
