Life is so different after the arrival of bebe K. With the high physical demand (and time-wise) of taking care of a newborn, it was almost impossible to think about taking an infant out for leisure purposes, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic — until just recently, we decided to brave the anxiety and bring bebe on his first leisure outing at Hortus café in the Flower Dome at the Gardens by the Bay.
We picked a weekday afternoon to avoid the crowd. And we were so pleased to arrive at this gorgeous Mediterranean-themed café inside the Flower Dome away from the hustle and bustle, in style ..read more

Never have I thought I would visit Macau on a leisure trip. But during a Bleisure trip (Business + Leisure Trip = Bleisure Trip), I had the chance to check out the Las Vegas of the East. While I have no interest in gambling, it was a memorable trip nonetheless.
I went on a free & easy foodie excursion and checked out a few picturesque places for the gram in Macau. Surely, the food in Macau did not disappoint. I had a mix of simple cha chaan teng food and extravagant meal at luxury hotels. Although it was a short stay, I have to agree that the city lives up to its name as a U ..read more

Bebe K is 2 months old by the time I get to jot down my thoughts regarding newborn baby nursery. I remembered that when we were first preparing the room for him, we were so overwhelmed trying to figure out what he’ll need, besides the obvious things like a cot, a stroller and a car seat.
The baby products market in Singapore is undoubtedly saturated, as with everywhere else in the world, making it challenging to distinguish the must-haves from the nice-to-haves. And to be honest, most newborn nursery items are the big tickets that would eat into our budget. So we were very clear from the ..read more

As I am writing this article, bébé Keian is sleeping soundly in his nursery. Come to think of it, my pregnancy was an enjoyable one.
I wasn’t given hormone pills at the early stage of the pregnancy to enhance the survival rates of my fetus, despite the unfortunate miscarriage just last year. Nor I was given supplements from my gynae throughout the pregnancy. I didn’t suffer from morning sickness, I eat fairly well throughout my pregnancy — weight gain was moderate and steady. I had very minimal heartburn, occasional constipation, and no gestational diabetes and other complications, despite hav ..read more

If you’re looking for an authentic family-owned Italian eatery in Singapore, No Menu at Boon Tat Street would satisfy your cravings. The restaurant is run by Italians from Piedmont, a region of Italy that sits at the foot of the Alps and bordering France and Switzerland. It’s known for sophisticated cuisine and great wines.
The name of the restaurant pays homage to its homeland, where typically, a family-run restaurant would have “no menu”. While the restaurant does have a menu (and a pretty extensive one!), you can always check with their staff regarding their exciting dishes of the day which ..read more

As I write the blog, I feel a sense of nostalgia for Taipei, the city where I last visited in 2018. It has been a while, and I miss the food and warm interactions with the people in Taiwan. It feels so good to hear that we can soon travel to Taiwan without having to quarantine!
And so here’s a blog post brought to you by my brother who’s currently based in Taipei, to help you get your to-go list ready!
When we talk about Taiwan, it is impossible to skip its tea culture. Taiwan’s colonial past has resulted in its vibrant tea history. And that inspired [ tei ] by O’Bond as a tea bar to present t ..read more

Supernova is considered one of the newest kids on the block in Tanjong Katong. Since it is operated by the same group behind Atlas Coffeehouse and Columbus Coffee Co, and I’ve always admired their mid-century, antique-ish interior, I wanted very much to visit this café before I give birth and go into confinement. And I am happy I did!
Turns out that the café is quite popular even on a weekday afternoon. We didn’t have to wait for a seat but most of the tables were occupied during lunchtime.
The Food
The café provides brunch, coffee and cakes during the day, and when the night falls, it turns i ..read more

If you are wondering what’s Janchi Guksu (잔치국수), it is a traditional Korean dish that roughly translates to “banquet or festive noodles”. It is a simple warm noodle dish made with thin wheat noodles — somyeon (소면) in a clear anchovy or beef broth.
The white noodles symbolize happiness and longevity in Korean culture. And janchi (잔치) means celebration. Therefore, this is a dish usually served on special occasions like weddings or birthdays in the olden days. Most Koreans grew up enjoying Janchi Guksu made by their grandma and is a classic, sentimental food that reminds them of their childhood ..read more

Taobao has always been my best friend when it comes to hunting aesthetic decor for our home, ever since our first house renovation in 2018. We have been doing lots of Taobao furniture, home decor, and tableware shopping since then. Nowadays, I even shop for baby items on the platform!
I love what I bought, and I am always proud to tell my guests that a large number of items they see at my house are from Taobao.
Here in this post, I am going to share a few of my favourite corners of the house, the Taobao decor and tablewares I got, and the links to the shops where I got the items from. I have b ..read more
