Vintage Kwik Sew 487 Teal Rib Knit Top

Today I’m back with a quick & easy make- this teal cropped fitted tee. This is my first try using Kwik Sew 487, a Vintage pattern I was gifted. View B is drafted specifically for Rib Knits so I thought I’d give it a go with this pretty teal knit. I love this shade of aqua, plus the fabric is so silky and soft. I did alter this pattern and added on my own sleeve draft. I had a pale blue crop tee on my style mood board for Spring 2023 and I thought this would make a cute versatile top with that look. I like that silhouette of a fitted tee that hits at the waist with a flared midi skirt. I ..read more

How chic is this two piece set? I just love it! This is Vogue Patterns V1419 Asymmetrical Tunic and Drawstring pant set I made out of this oh- so-soft and lovely Tencel Jersey in Deep Teal from Core Fabrics. I bought two yards to make the cropped cardigan and pant and then went back and bought some more so I could make the tunic in the same fabric! This pattern is pretty easy to sew as long as you pay attention to your notches and mark well. I skipped the hems and left all the edges raw, sewing it all up on my serger. I adore how this fabric drapes and the color is just fantastic. They ..read more

I just published my first Sew Along video so I thought I’d share all the details plus some lovely pictures here on the blog!     In the video I’m sewing up the cropped cardigan View A from Vogue 1914, an Easy pattern released in Fall 2022.  View A is a Slim fit V-neck cardigan that has a 3 button front, and neckline facings. It has a lovely gathered bust detail in a cropped length that hits just at the natural waist. It comes in two size ranges XS-M as well as L-XXL. I cut my pattern in a straight size Medium which is a 12-14 (my usual size in Vogue).   If you ..read more

I made this Dotty Linen Style Arc Maude Tunic almost a year ago for our trip to Greece and never wore it! I purchased the Style Arc Spring to Summer Look Patterns but the matching shorts I made just didn’t work. Too short and the silhouette just looked wrong. But I’ve since reworked this top slightly and am liking it a whole lot more now! I will say I’m not convinced this blouse is a good color for me. It’s a bit on the yellow side. The fabric is so pretty- this is the Zimmermann Sand Dollar and Blue Fog Fil Coupe Dot Linen and Cotton Woven. I bought this online from Mood. I love the bit of b ..read more

It’s time to share my Fall/Winter Wardrobe makes for 2023! Here’s the first look in my mini capsule wardrobe, a copper knit tee and Butterick 4659 Denim Trouser. My mini capsule wardrobe is now almost entirely complete- and for once before the season is over! Bonus you can see this entire look on my newly rebranded YouTube channel! I thought I’d try something a little different on the Blog- breaking up some of my wardrobe planning posts here on the blog. These are are some of my favorite things to design and share. So I’m going to start sharing some planning posts on individual looks and what patterns and fabrics would look fantastic together. I’m already planning for future travels and am trying to make more mini capsules in my wardrobe to wear both here and abroad. I’ve been sewing for so long now that I don’t really need to sew much clothing so why not create travel clothes that mix and match. For today though I’m foc ..read more
