Why did adult gender clinics withhold data from the Cass Review?
Transgender Trend

by Shelley Charlesworth The news that adult gender clinics, who had refused to share their data with the Cass Review, have had to back down is bittersweet. Post-Cass the research will continue and the clinics will have to share data on the thousands of children who were transferred from GIDS to adult clinics. But the time-wasting has been effective. Imagine how much stronger the final version of the ground-breaking report from Dr Hilary Cass would have been with this information. What’s already known about adult clinics: the Exeter study Of the seven clinics Exeter was the only one to comply ..read more

NHS England to review cross-sex hormones policy
Transgender Trend

In a letter to Dr Cass, published on their website, NHS England has committed to conducting a proper review of cross-sex hormones: NHS England will review the use of gender affirming hormones through a process of updated evidence review and public consultation, similar to the rigorous process that was followed to review the use of puberty suppressing hormones. In the meantime, you have made clear that the new providers should be ‘extremely cautious’ when considering whether to refer young people under 18 years for consideration of hormone intervention. While we welcome the promise from NHSE ..read more

The ideological capture of Dorset – nowhere to turn
Transgender Trend

The following account of a council completely captured by gender ideology was written by Shelley Charlesworth, with our thanks to the persistent, hard-working women in Dorset for their essential help in compiling this report. Children with gender-related distress in Dorset are being badly let down by all public bodies that are meant to protect them. They will not find any other explanation about this distress from local health, educational and voluntary bodies other than that they are ‘trans.’ They and their parents are unable to escape this activist message as the county’s schools, youth gro ..read more

A guest post by Peter Jenkins, a member of Thoughtful Therapists, whose scoping survey for the UK government consultation on conversion therapy can be found here:  https://thoughtfultherapists.org/scoping-survey-pdf/ The media response to the release of The WPATH Files has rightly focused on its shocking revelations of potentially unethical practice and concern over parallels with past medical negligence scandals in the US, such as the unevidenced use of lobotomy and ovariectomy on vulnerable patients (Hughes, 2024). Within the UK, exposure of the World Professional Associ ..read more

NHS England ends the use of puberty blockers

On Tuesday March 12thNHS England confirmed that puberty blockers will no longer be available as routine treatment for children experiencing gender-related distress. We welcome this confirmation of the draft policy following public consultation. We are especially pleased that NHS England has scrapped the inclusion of ‘exceptional cases’ as this would be unworkable in practice. In our response to the consultation we said: “There should be no exceptional cases outside the trial – these cases would be lost to the research and there is no justifiable reason to exclude some children from the study ..read more

WPATH unmasked: the WPATH Files
Transgender Trend

There can be no doubt that WPATH, the World Professional Association of Transgender Health, has had a profound and malign influence on gender healthcare worldwide. This power is wielded through their Standards of Care, guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of gender dysphoria in adults and children, which WPATH claims are evidence-based and best practice. But the recently released WPATH Files reveal an organisation run by activists and ideologues who in private chat forums admit knowing of the harms caused by cross-sex hormones and surgery. These chillingly candid discussions show that W ..read more

The deadline for responses to the government consultation on the draft guidance for schools: Gender Questioning Children is Tuesday 12th March. You can read the government draft guidance here. There has been an active campaign by lobby groups to undermine the draft guidance and to encourage teachers, parents and children themselves to respond in opposition to it. Various activist groups have issued their own advice on how to respond, including Stonewall, Mermaids, Gendered Intelligence and Allsorts. It is therefore critical that the voices of teachers and parents who are concerned about the i ..read more
