The rise of Virtual Escape Rooms
Lawyer In The Making

Pre-Covid had you heard of Virtual Escape Rooms? Not much felt virtual – the odd webinar, maybe the odd conference but life felt much more face to face didn’t it? However, the slightly anti-social person in me didn’t mind some of lockdown though. But we can save that for another blog post. Pre-Covid going to an Escape Room was definitely on my list of must do’s… I just hadn’t found the right time. Fast forward to the world changing and Covid striking and the rise of online quizzes and escape rooms boomed! Now, I love a quiz – whether that be on paper, on TV, a local pub quiz or a puzzle book ..read more

What a year 2020-2021 has been, so welcome to the Mini Law Conference! Have you ever opened up Twitter or LinkedIn and thought, what do I do now? Or wondered who to connect with? What to share? Have you ever wondered how to get Work Experience? Or why it can seem like work experiences seem to come like buses… none at all, then 3 at once? Or how to get it when they want you to show you already have experience? What about interview prep? How to be confident? What to say? What to research? Don’t worry I have you covered! These are just a splattering of some of the questions I get asked on a week ..read more

Book – Group – How One Therapist and a Circle of Strangers Saved My Life
Lawyer In The Making

Wow, if you add one book to your reading list for 2021 do make it this! I read this in two nights, and just couldn’t put it down. Now I always have been a ferocious reader, even when I was little.. I guess that helps, when pursuing a career in law.  It’s safe to say though that I do have to remind myself to read fiction and non-fiction that isn’t for work/career purposes.  This was perfect for that, I was gripped from page 1 and just desperate to find out how things progressed.  If I am honest, part of my wanted to jump to the end and read that but I refrained.  The challe ..read more

2021… The year I move to the countryside
Lawyer In The Making
by Rebecca Morgan

Yes… that is correct, I have the left the bright lights of London and Hertfordshire, for a little village near Woodstock in Oxfordshire.  I am so excited. Don’t get me wrong, I love London and cities and exploring and I can work there still (winning on the 45 minute direct train into London!), but I also like the countryside or being near the sea. If the last year or so has taught me anything, then it is to follow your heart a little more (as cliché as that sounds), and this area has been top of my list for such a long time!  I have moved slightly further away from my family – but s ..read more

Turning 30!
Lawyer In The Making
by Rebecca Morgan
3y ago
So I know typically this blog is primarily law and a bit of work related travel and experiences thrown in.  I also always promise to be honest on there and on social media, but I, like many others do have a private life, which I choose to keep relatively private. However, I thought I would write a post as I turn 30 in April. Aside from the fact it is likely I will be spending my 30th in lockdown (here is to all of us who have had 2 lockdown birthdays!), I am much more of a ‘I prefer other people’s birthdays’ kind of girl. I am acutely aware though that the world we live in seems to expect ..read more

Lawyer In The Making
by Rebecca Morgan

Well what a 9 months this has been, I don’t think any of us really knew back in March how long this was going to go on for, but I am guessing not quite this long. With a substantial increase in webinars and online seminars and even conferences, I thought I would share just 3 simple tips to make them go more smoothly!  Webinars as we know were around pre-Covid, however, there has been such an influx of them, whether that be Chambers, Law Firms, Academics, speaking to other lawyers or their clients.  Discussing the impact of Covid, or avoiding Covid completely and just delivering sessi ..read more

It’s Time To Talk….
Lawyer In The Making
by Rebecca Morgan

You can’t escape the various campaigns, posters, social media messages and content being shared this week, reminding every time that it is Time To Talk. Time To Talk about your mental health, any struggles, any problems you are facing. One thing stands out to me, and whilst I am fully supportive of campaigns such as these… people need to feel like they can talk anytime. They need to feel like they have a person (or group of people) that they can reach out to anytime when things just aren’t that great, when life just gets that little bit too much, when they just need a chat. Sometim ..read more

The Children Act | Film | August 2018
Lawyer In The Making
by Rebecca Morgan

So I am back from America… and guess what? The Children Act has a UK release date. 24th August 2018… for those that haven’t seen it. Check out my old post all about The Children Act and the trailer. I am so excited, the film looks like something the legal geek in me will love… and Emma Thompson is usually in pretty good movies. I have not been to the cinema in forever, but as soon as I saw the trailer, I sent a message to my mum when I was away saying we had to go. However it seems it is only on in limited cinemas which is annoying and during the day (not ideal if you work).. Let me know if ar ..read more
