RBL Posse‘s A Lesson to Be Learned is a true gem of underground Hip-Hop. This album, released in 1992, has remained largely underrated and overlooked, despite its undeniable quality and influence on the West Coast rap scene.
From the very first track, “Don’t Give Me No Bammer Weed,” it’s clear that RBL Posse were masters of their craft. The beat is infectious, the rhymes are clever, and the chorus is catchy as hell. This song, and its sequel “Bammer Weed II,” are instant classics that have become staples of West Coast Hip-Hop.
But it’s not just the funny, lighthearted tracks that make A Less ..read more

In 2017, Kendrick Lamar released the music video for “Humble.” which included the memorable lyrics:
I’m so fuckin’ sick and tired of the Photoshop
Show me somethin’ natural like afro on Richard Pryor
Show me somethin’ natural like ass with some stretch marks
The video features the stunning Carter Kim, who captivates the audience with her natural beauty. It’s a wonder why she wasn’t featured in our Certified Banger section earlier, as it’s something we would typically do. Nevertheless, Carter Kim remains as gorgeous as ever, and we cannot help but admire her beauty ..read more

On Friday, The Alchemist and Hit-Boy announced a team-up via an Instagram post where they discussed rapping over each other’s productions while making beats. Shortly after, they released a music video for their collaboration, “Slipping Into Darkness,” which I finally had the opportunity to watch. I have to say, both the song and the music video are dope.
Hit-Boy took the opportunity to question the versatility of some well-known Hip-Hop producers, specifically Metro Boomin, Southside, and Mustard, while also throwing some shots (back) at Yung Berg Hitmaka. He raps, “I just seen Yung Berg spo ..read more

This is a random one. I initially was going to make Chris Rock’s “Champagne” Song of the Week to commemorate his new Netflix special, Selective Outrage. But then I realized I didn’t actually have much to say about it other than it was “okay” (Shout out to my boy Verbose. Welcome back from the dead).
So let’s go with… looks through iTunes Music app… “What Am I To Do” by Mick Jenkins.
The funny thing is that even though “What Am I To Do” came out in 2018, I probably didn’t actually hear the full song until last year. But the first time I heard the beat was when it was used in a nappyafro Insta ..read more
