The Impact of Spiritual Support in Mental Health Recovery

At the least, it may be acknowledged that there is a certain proclivity within the human spirit towards these ideas, but when looking at religion and spiritual practices through a more deductive lens it can be demonstrated that such ideologies have a place in human health. Whi ..read more

Enhancing Psychiatric Help Accessibility Through Evidence-Based Mental Healthcare
Mental health care has improved significantly over the last fifty years. Where once seeking mental health care was highly stigmatized, it is now relatively commonplace. About 25% of adults self-identify as struggling with their mental health.
That’s a big step. However, there are still problems, even as things improve. Access to care remains limited in many parts of the country. Sometimes accessibility concerns are regionally specific. Certain towns are not adequately staffed with mental health professionals.

Shoulder Devil Poetry by D.M. Anderson
There’s a devil on my shoulder
She grinds my teeth down
Her lungs vomit poison
Within it I drown
Fight her with pills
Lock myself in
Never go out
For fear she will win
Nowhere to hide
She lives in my head
Stare at the ceiling
I’ll sleep when I’m dead
My constant companion
Deeper than bone
On the other hand at least I’m never alone

How Teachers Can Better Help Students Who Are Struggling with Their Mental Health

Dealing with mental health struggles is not a direct extension of that responsibility. Schools have mental health professionals with significant training, there to help connect students with the resources they need.
Unfortunately, that division of labor won’t always cut it. Children are com ..read more
