Not an overly productive week.  Life has been busy.  Not sure with what, but busy. Potato chip quilt #2 has become a flimsy.  Husband is still one armed, so it is laying over furniture.  (He has follow-up tomorrow with his surgeon and may range of motion begin.) This potato chip block was made smaller than the other in quilt #1 due to my cutting error.  So, four were stitched together to make a bigger block and I wanted to see how it looks with sashing.  I am liking it.  I will clean it up and get it to my long armer.  This is another that I wi ..read more

We began the week with another Boston trip.  SEW (husband) had a left shoulder rotator cuff repair.  We left on Monday with the thought that he would be first or second for outpatient surgery on Tuesday.  Best laid plans of mice and men.  His surgery was scheduled last, and he was the last patient to leave the building at 6 pm.  That meant a second night in Boston.  Good thing the hotel was right across the street.  All has gone well since.  We go back in two weeks and then our Boston trips stop until next spring. There was a bit of sitting in the waitin ..read more

I would like you to meet Margie. a Thanksgiving cactus given to me by a good friend.  Her sister had passed, hence the name, and this plant needed a new home.  She came to live with me.  ALL of my Thanksgiving, Christmas cactus spend the summer outside in the shade between the house and the North side of the deck and fend for themselves.  They don't come back in until after one or two early light frosts.  (The frost that is seen out on the lawn but doesn't come up to the house.)   She is gorgeous this year.  Early but gorgeous.  Her flowers will p ..read more

Big computer has come home.  Laptop that I did my last entry on became jealous and has now gone to the computer man.  Don't know what I did, but I could not get online.  The laptop is a family hand me down that I only play Mahjong, Solitaire and look at Blogs on.  Who knows what I did when I made it work harder. Friends were visiting last weekend; we have been to Boston this week.  My five-year evaluation and all is good.  Now I won't go back for a year.   Looking around my cave to show what I have done over the last two weeks and I don't see much.&nbs ..read more

Well, I am learning something new.  My desktop computer that I write my Blog entries from has gone for a spa treatment.  (Not sure if it has a virus or not.  Our antivirus program has changed.)   So, here I am on a laptop that I never have done a Blog entry on.  So far, so good.  We shall see if I make it to the end. My Squirrel:  I saw this material, Meow-gical Night by Wilmington Prints and it had been stitched into a table runner.  The pattern is Easy Striped Table Runner by Karen Montgomery.  I am not a person who puts up de ..read more

My first potato chip block quilt is a flimsy!  It is 25 blocks, 5 blocks X 5 blocks.  It measures 80-inches X 80-inches.  I was two blocks from the finish and continued to complete the quilt to flimsy stage.  It is being held up by two of my friends.  We gathered for lunch on Wednesday.  This is my first totally scrappy quilt, and I am pleased.  After getting the first chip flimsy done, I needed to do another project before I came back to my Littles.  (The Littles were put aside to do the final run to get to flimsy stage.)   I love cloth book ..read more

Assistance was offered as I was stitching the facing on my potato chip quilt last weekend.  Ziva was making sure that it did not float away from me.  She did not like it when I turned a corner.  Her sleep was being interfered with as the quilt was readjusted. The quilt facing stitching was finished on Wednesday.  I am so enjoying how it looks.   You can see that there is no binding on the edge.  The edge of the chip bits is the end of the quilt.   Here is the back side with the facing hand stitched down.  Potato chip quilt number one is done.  ..read more

The Snowflake Tablerunner from Piecing the Past Quilts is done.  Here is the backside of the hand quilting of the snowflake and the machine quilting of the edges.  All the quilting is a spacing of four inches at the farthest distance.  A front picture should have been done but, here it is.  Done. This week was another busy week for me, and not enough time was spent hand quilting.  There is only about two hours left but a picture needed to be taken to show you what is left.   My stitching space was just not deep enough to stitch to the final edge of the b ..read more

My Snowflake Tablerunner from Piecing the Past Quilts is almost done.  I have hand quilted around the snowflake parts and put on the binding.  The decision has been made to add quilting in the spaces between the snowflakes and also at the ends.  It will be set back into the hoop and be my slow stitching for Sunday (football). 3030 was only stitched on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday this week.  Just couldn't make it back due to other commitments.  You can see that the stitching, piano keys, is at the last border.  Only half the stitching line can be stitched due to ..read more

Well, my Ellie has been at Brookside Quilt Works for her spa treatment.  She will come home next Wednesday.  Machine piecing hasn't happened as my Grand Dame (1971 Elna Super) told me to leave her alone, go do something else.   I was going to sandwich the Eagle Runner but 3030 Quilt was yelling at me.  She told me that she had been neglected long enough.  A written record has been kept of the hours that I have hand quilted on her.  She was last stitched on in January 2024!!  That truly is neglect.  There was only one row of blocks to ..read more
