It's been a while since I last updated. I was fortunate to get a job I enjoy doing and working in a warm supportive atmosphere. The only negative thing I have to say is the hours are long, very long for this aging lady. I literally just get up, go to work, eat a quick dinner, to bed, and repeat 5 days in a row. It leaves me with almost no energy to do any crafting. It hasn't stopped me from buying supplies though. My molding kit has arrived! I will now be able to make molds for my shuttles! I also added a few more shuttles to my collection.  The green one was a birthday gift from ..read more

It's national Taco Day!

It's National Taco Day! No one in the house wants tacos today. Ironic, I know, I can hardly believe it myself...so disappointed. With my eldest now somewhat situated, I went back to some minor crafting. The blades I was working on were lost. Actually, half of the blades were lost. The cat my daughter has knocked them into the trash can and it was tossed before I noticed. Nothing to do about it but make more another time.  The day before I saw a Facebook post about my tatting patterns and the fact there are errors on some of them. ? Today, I spent time going over the first one, Lotus, and ..read more

I spent a few hours making some more shuttle blades. I really like how sparkly the glitter ones are. Originally, I was going to make it grey and black but was distracted and reverted back to the standard fox-ish colors. Here is a close up of the glitter blade: I'm still trying to make a mold that has the posts and one blade already joined together, to help reduce sanding and resin waste. The four I have done have not worked out, either they were too shallow, too deep, or had lint that was permanently transferred to the mold. For now, these will be put aside and I will go back to tatting w ..read more

Faux Stained Glass Shuttles

I was feeling the urge to be productive in some way. I pulled out the resin and began working on some small shuttles. After printing out some free stained glass patterns from the internet, I got about making them into shuttles. 3rd try        1st try        2nd try The middle one was the first one completed. I used all UV resin that I colored with pastel chalks. It looked okay, but not the real effect I wanted. The one on the right is just tinted regular resin using resin specific dye. I had to add a bit of the dye because the color was ..read more

Making some minor changes

Two sample stitching using different methods. The top is done using the technique for working on evenweave/linen, and the bottom is with a small section of graph sticker. I am definitely going to need a much stronger magnifier than my 3X glasses to see properly. I do have white Aida I could just stitch on but I have it in my heart to work with this printed cotton design. I suppose I should get more accustomed to working the actual stitches before I go back to the printed fabric.  I went back to working on my patterns to get them ready to record as tutorials. I found a way to be ..read more

My first attempt at getting a new desk fell through. Originally I was looking at this desk in a grey but it was out of stock. I'm glad the prior desk went on back-stock, because this is what I really wanted. The grey was still out of stock so I went with black. It looks somewhat like a dark brown in the picture but that's just my lighting in the room. I am so happy to have so much workspace on the desk now, everything neatly put away in drawers with lots of storage room.  I was working on filling in the wings next to the body when I realized the metallic thread was not working out ..read more

Titania and notebook update

I was missing two colors that I needed for the Titania pattern. I went to Michael's in search of it. I did not find it but I did find a substitute. They had a good coupon that I used to pick up the most of the newest colors. There were missing about five of them. I began separating and labeling the floss. This is the progress of the piece. I plan on spending the rest of today working on it.  The notebook covers are done curing. The mica powder I added to the little dragon would have looked better if I had added it to the base first before adding the tatting. One side of the notebo ..read more

The week's crafting recap.

I decided to just work from left to right on the cross stitching. It makes it so much easier to see progress this way. After I finish stitching this half, I'm going to have dissolve this grid so I can finish the rest. I tried to just lay it on top, but it distorts with time, as the adhesive wears away. I got the urge to tat. I was planning on doing some test swatches so I can decide on a tatting edging to border the piece. Instead I ended up starting "Harmony" from Jon aka Tatarenda. I got this far before I set it aside.  Today I wanted to start some notebook covers with resin ..read more

The stand has arrived. The instructions took a quick minute to look over before I figured out how to properly assemble it. Some of the openings for the rods were a very rough cut with edges that flaked when I inserted them. I'm thinking of taking a file to them and smoothing them out. With the working surface further away from my face, I'm having to use my 3X magnifying glasses. At least now my hand can stop cramping from holding the hoop.I love how the fabric is neatly rolled out of the way on the scroll frame.  I spent the entire day working on it. This is where I was when I put it ..read more

Adding to the stash and some Xstitching

Found these at Walmart while getting some household supplies. The yarn is a bamboo/cotton blend and the label has it listed as a size 3. It's very soft and would make a really nice scarf. The hooks I had the idea to incorporate the resin eggs onto them after cutting them to the proper length. I haven't tried them out as I'm currently still cross stitching. One thing I quickly learned is that I need a magnifier to keep working. I picked this one up on clearance from Michael's Craft store. I tried it out and didn't like how it kept slipping, which forces my eyes to strain to adjust. I did ..read more
