Hey everyone. Just got a mail for uni of Derby saying that I have an interview with them. This is my first time applying for MA in Music Therapy. I'm told that I need to have an instrument ready to play. I'd love some tips on what I should be expecting in this interview?
Love to all, thanks!

I have a master's degree in music therapy + MT-BC and live in New York. I don't have my LCAT. Can I practice via telehealth with people in other states that don't require the LCAT?

Today was my fourth attempt at taking the CBMT and failed once again. I got the same score as the last time I took it, 91 out of 130. I have been receiving private tutoring and exhausted myself of every practice test that I could find and buy at this point. I have read several books recommended from the community and still failed. I dont know what to do. I just got another tutor to see if it works. I just dont understand how so many people can pass on the first or second try but I just dont seem to get it right at all. I need some support, advice, and resources for this test. I am feeling the ..read more

Hi everyone!
I am a senior majoring in Neuroscience and Computer Science. You may have seen my similar post from a few months ago. I am working on a research project centered around technology use in music therapy, and I am looking to interview some music therapists. I’m particularly interested in those who have at least one year of music therapy practice experience and provide music therapy services for individuals with ASD, other neurodevelopmental disorders, or disabilities. Note that I have widened the scope eligibility criteria since my previous post.
If you fit these criteria and have s ..read more

I am really excited to share the film that I have been working on for the past two years with Hasi Eldib of Carleton University. I am sharing two links here. The first is the trailer, and the second is link to the 17 minute film. Throughout my career as a music therapist I have struggled to mitigate misconceptions about what I do. I know that many in my field have had similar concerns. This film is my way of trying to clarify the difference between music therapy and how music can be therapeutic. It is freely available for music therapists everywhere to use as a part of their in-services at th ..read more

Hello everyone,
I'm 30 years old and I'm from Turkey. I moved to the US two years ago. I studied musicology/ethnomusicology in Turkey. I can play the guitar, piano, and nai (a traditional woodwind instrument). I first heard about music therapy when I was an undergraduate student. I took a two-credit course in one semester about music therapy, and that's all the exposure I've had to it. Now that I'm in the US, I've been thinking about enrolling in a master's program here to learn more about it. However, the problem is that I really want to help people with music, but I don't know much about mu ..read more
