Happy International Tatting Day - have I got some new pieces to share with you!   As I posted on the FB page, I had finished the Chain Reaction necklace, but what's more grand is that I finally have a picture of the completed item!   Mint-green satin ribbon and a large button for clasp. The ribbon measured 1/8 in wide. Next on my list of to-tat, is the Network pattern by MK. Has anyone tried this pattern yet? In the image to the left, you'll see the next project I worked up.    If you're familiar with Designers, then I'm sure you can see this is the Skipping Ropes ..read more

A Tatting Project – Update
Tatting Central | A Collection of Thoughts and Ideas

I took a few moments today to work on my tatting project (going forward, will be justly named "the challenge"). 2 rings - that's all I managed to accomplish. Tatting with sewing thread is so tedious, that I can only do 1 - 2 elements at a time. I spent nearly 30 minutes trying to get the rings tatted, joined, and closed; with the last ring being joined to the first.   Even though the un-joined picots are a bit twisted, I'm thankful the joined picots aren't. It appears that 2 out of 4 un-joined picots only are twisted... so it could look as if it's meant to be that way; especially since t ..read more

A Tatting Project & Something New

Hey everyone, Unfortunately, I haven't had much time for tatting lately - though I've still managed to make time to try and find more resources (some of which are upcoming events, and are posted on FaceBook). However, last night I did start a new project, and it looks like this: I have no idea what it will turn out to be. This project is more of a "challenge myself" vs. following any pattern or what-not.  The reason it's so challenging? Because I'm working with sewing thread! That's so tiny for my chunky-sausage-stubs-for-fingers! The reason I'm challenging myself? Because I'm n ..read more

Yes, I’m still here… and still tatting (however, I don’t actually have photos of the latest endeavors). Between life and a wonky internet connection, I haven’t been online much. I made another Spinning Wheel Butterfly – this one in black, with silver beads… it needs to be blocked first, so I’ll post pictures next time.   While this post doesn’t have much of my own tatting to talk about, I do have a couple of other things (one not tatting related), that I wanted to share with you.   The first is a post from Hubpages: How to Safely Wash Old or Fine Tatting. It’s quite a helpful article ..read more

Hey everyone!   I’ve actually had some time for tatting lately. Once the Interlaced Rings got figured out, I’ve been on the tatting slalom ever since – with 2 tats in the works (which, one of them I just finished a bit ago). It still needs to be blocked yet, but I just couldn’t wait to show you what’s become of a beloved pattern by Mary Konior…   The Spinning Wheel Glass Mat pattern has turned into…   The Spinning Wheel Butterfly!   I’m sure I could have made the body different, but since I wanted to tat this in one continuous round (I really dislike having to cut and ..read more

My Attempt At Interlaced Rings

I found a really  nice blog about interlaced rings. Now, this blog post is not the original idea – rather, it is an expounding pictorial on an element that was shared over at InTatters.   The blog is Muskaan’s TIPS, and the pictorial mentioned is for Interlaced Rings, which was started in a thread by Judith Connors. If you are not on InTatters, and/or have not had the privilege of seeing this Braid, then I would encourage you to 1. sign up at InTatters, and/or 2. read Muskaan’s blog post about the Interlace Ring Braid.   I was having a struggle getting the Interlacing corre ..read more

It Is Finished

The headband is finished! Now the only thing left to do, is take it to be tried on, to make sure it fits properly.   The pattern was “Baby Lace” from the book Tatting with Visual Patterns, by Mary Konior. Tatted in size 10, white mercerized cotton. The label is missing, but I believe it was a German brand. I added a touch of glue to the final knot, then used white sewing thread to attach to the baby blue-colored ribbon. Considering it’s my first-ever made tatted headband, I think it turned out pretty well. I guess we’ll see how it wears!!     After the headband reaches its n ..read more
