In my opinion all of the elaborate and complex explanations for consciousness are just plain wrong. I believe the explanation is something incredibly simple like this :

One of the conscious selves could be the X in the center. The 0s and 1s represent the energy levels of points in space. Each point is associated with a specific qualia, and any point in space can be considered a conscious self.

At the deepest level, isn't the human brain simply simulating or emulating consciousness and emotion?
So, at the end of the day human consciousness is "generated", and emotion is "generated" - it is just generated by an extremely complex biological machine called the human brain, and the human body is called into action as a response, and made to feel ingrained and natural.
And if so... at some point in the distant future, someone will develop the same capability within a machine?

TLDR; the soul and body is like a person and a car
I’m not expert on anything but as someone who likes to ponder what it means to be alive and conscious, this is how I’ve been thinking about it. Would love to hear responses.
A car is a vessel for transportation for a person. The person starts the car and controls where it goes, how it drives, what turns it makes etc. Without a driver the car is just a machine.

To be more precise, I would a book that has a mix of science and human history. The way people evolved over time to think or evolution of consciousness would be great.
Im reading sapiens right now and will be finished soon.
Im not interested in anything that strays away from science or is religious. Anything that is dogmatic with a strong personal opinion or opinion that strays from science would also not be much fun for me

When I say digital immortality, I mean a true transfer of consciousness and not just a copy. Some people say that we don't understand what consciousness is but I don't understand how that is a problem for uploading. What are your thoughts? I'd love to hear what you think about it.
