I am looking for any online design courses that will help me be better at my job. I fell into landscape design after stepping away from my career in veterinary medicine/becoming a SAHM. It has allowed me to make income in my free time. It also helped that my husband owns a landscape company. Anyway, I do not have formal training of any sort. I am self educated but feel that I need/want more. I really want to learn to be more artistic/whimsical etc with my designs for hardscapes/landscapes. I use a CAD type program called RealArchitect by Spectrum (?). I am pretty comfortable with it. I am als ..read more

Advice (and cost estimates?) for Landscaping with Drainage in Mind

I hope it's okay for me to post this question here. I wasn't sure where else to turn. My husband and I are trying to decide if we want to buy a house that has been sitting on the market for a bit. We're working through the pros and cons one by one. One con involves landscaping, drainage, and associated costs. First, context. Then, the problem. Then, the specific question. Context: there is a garage attached to the house with short retaining walls in front of it and a bedroom built above it. My realtor calls this a tuck under, if that terminology is helpful. The strange thing is that the g ..read more

A quick update. There have been approximately 150 salary shares for 2024. We are now sorting data by years of experience - check it out! Interestingly, entry level salaries seem significantly higher than previous years. Let’s get this closer to 500 shares and see what the data looks like. Thanks all for the participation. How does this work?

Hai, I am not a landscape architect and I have no idea if this is the right place to ask, but this is called 'Ben Nuoc' in Vietnamese and it is a water station used by ethnic groups. I am just confused how it works since the villages and the water stations are located in mountainous areas. Do the pipes collect the water from the groundwater table? And how does that work? Thank you! https://preview.redd.it/fo60x69unnvc1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07fbbcb7e147e70ad3c2a75d71dc5f577ad397f1 submitted by /u/Slowdive_Next [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

context: I am in year 3 of 4 in a dual masters program (LA and Urban & Regional Planning), at an R1 university in the midwest. I am on a team for my masters project where I am the only LA. We will be working with Tribal communities around the great lakes region to facilitate a stewardship plan process for restoration efforts. Our advisors are themselves citizens of tribes, so they have a lot of experience and facilitation for communication etc. One of them is a highly recognized professor in Environmental Justice. There is a small side project specifically for me (well, for an LA student ..read more
