Good day! My friends and I are in our third year of studying political science. One of our program requirements is to complete a 300-hour internship. We're interested in finding law firms that accept interns. Ideally, we'd prefer paid internships, but any opportunity to gain experience in the legal field would be valuable. Thank you for your help! submitted by /u/FixGullible5981 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Im a junior at my university, majoring in political science (possibly adding a communications minor), and was just offered and accepted my first internship at my US senator's regional office. This is my first political internship ever, and I am very excited but also quite nervous to be honest. I like to look ahead, I always want to have a long term goal. This internship will be over the summer, and I am hoping that I can leave me mark on the office and be offered to return for the fall and/or spring semesters. But after spring 2025, I will be graduated. I got no idea what comes next. My ultim ..read more

I'm looking for a diverse set of books to try to inform my own political ideology. I've never studied politics (I'm an engineering student), and although I'm comfortable in my political views (socially and fiscally left leaning) I realize that I don't have much to back them. Anyone have book recs that could help inform my politics, while not being straight up propaganda? submitted by /u/Aggravating-Web-5404 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

It had three volumes, published post-2000; each book was a one word title, and each was a form of social organization. The last was called, I think, COLLECTIVE. Thanks for any help you can give! submitted by /u/martin__writes [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Are there parties that are fiscally conservative but at the same time want to tax the rich?

Is it because fiscal conservatism is beneficial to the rich and the rich wouldn't support them? Seems logical to say "hey I'll pay more taxes than the average joe as long as you don't go crazy with government projects that haven't been tried and true - the "government waste" people groan so much about. I guess I want to see a conservative party say theyll increase taxes for the upper class while also being conservative with new ventures. submitted by /u/Any_Distance_3102 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

US presidential elections: historical trend of third-party polling?

Third-party candidates polled strongly in 2016, with 5% of the popular vote. In 2020, they did poorly, which, e.g., Green candidate Howie Hawkins attributed to people's desire to vote against Trump. For 2024, currently polling shows very high interest in third-party candidates, suggesting that they could do even better than in 2016. However, it's only May, and the 6 months between now and November are a virtual eternity in polling terms. What do the historical data tell us about how potential third-party voters' eventual choice correlates with polling from months before? For example, if X% of ..read more

Political Science and Cybersecurity

I see a lot of comments by people who transitioned to cybersecurity field with PS as a background. I'm really interested in this field as i think no political related job satisfy me. I was wondering what jobs exactly people who studied PS get? How did they achieve this transition utilising their skills learned from university/college. Also, is there a job that combined political science and cybersecurity? submitted by /u/Im2StepsFromHell [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I was thinking if there was a political system in the world where the people can actually demand that a member of the Cabinet secretary be tried or convicted of crimes..for ex if 75% of the population wants to have them indicted, or, are there any systems that have that?
