My Master Bathroom Reveal

Welcome to my master bathroom – the first big project in my house renovations! When we gutted the top floor of our house to create a master bedroom we also carved out space to add an ensuite. The house has 5 bedrooms with only 1 bathroom so I knew another bath would be essential for re-sale value. I didn’t anticipate completing this bathroom for a few years, but as construction began I was advised that it would be easier to do it all at once.. and so that we did! BEFORE: I had so much fun coming up with ideas for this bathroom. I wanted to go for something unique with a balance of modern ..read more

The last trip I went on before global travel shut down was Sri Lanka, in February 2020. Corona had started to pick up speed and there were some fears from family, friends and coworkers about us going on this trip. We continuously said how fine it would be, despite having our flights cancelled and rebooked the week before our trip. We brought some face masks “just in case” and wore them on the planes, trains and anywhere super busy. In Sri Lanka, the virus was not talked about or thought about. We went about our time over the two weeks enjoying our vacation. About two weeks after we arrived bac ..read more

It’s been WAY too long since I’ve posted a good ole’ travel blog! The whole blogging world has changed and grown so much since I first start this little site in 2014. I think for a while I got pretty caught up in trying to keep up with the hype of it all and lost a bit of focus on why I started this site – which let’s be real is not to give people the “best” tips on the countries that I’ve only spent 2 weeks in but rather just to share my adventures, inspire other women to travel solo and have a space to write about some fun memories. With that being said, here’s our experience of travelling 1 ..read more

10 Tips for Travelling in Uganda

1. Download safe boda Getting around Kampala can be hectic especially during rush hour. Trips that should take 20 minutes can end up taking hours if you’re in a car. Scooters (or boda’s as they’re known in Uganda) weave through traffic and are realistically the best way to get around in the city. That being said, most boda drivers off the street are extremely risky to ride with and they don’t have helmets for you to use. “Safe Boda” is very similar to an uber app where you see the name and rating of your boda driver. They also have helmets and hair nets for you to use! 2. Download maps.me But ..read more

1. Luxy Lemon Charing Phone case I say a luxy lemon one because they are cute as heck (not sponsored) but really any charging phone case is super handy. It’s the best for long days so you don’t need to stress about not having access to a map, tickets, or addresses for your accommodation! 2. iPad with a keyboard I love travelling with my iPad and having a keyboard for it makes it easy to get work done on the road (if need be). It’s like having a mini laptop that is super light and can fit in my purse. 3. Maps.me App This app is amazing! You can download specific maps (like Uganda) before he ..read more

Hello my lovely blog followers! It has been a very long time since I have been able to write and share any of my recent travel adventures so I figured it was a perfect time to write a life update and let you all know what’s been happening. I moved back from Uganda at the end of June as my visa had expired, I wasn’t making any money and I needed to figure out what my next step was. I loved my time in Uganda, despite all the frustrations and road blocks that existed in child protection I learnt a lot and was able to work within the current Ugandan systems and politics to create an after school g ..read more

Tour Operator: Achieve Global Safaris Safari Length: 3 days Safari Highlights: Gorilla Trek Price: $1575 USD Here’s the low down on gorilla trekking in East Africa: First, you usually need to book your gorilla permit in advance as there are only 80 permits sold each day and they can sell out during high season. I knew I wanted to do gorilla trekking on a weekend in June which is the start of high season so I booked my tour about 4 months in advance. It’s a bit overwhelming choosing a tour operator, especially from abroad. I was travelling solo which meant that everything is 10x more expensi ..read more
